Option A seems to be the most logical one there. Option B just seems unnecessary, Option A+B seems too costly, and Option C imo would take too much away from what Man Utd are and would almost obliterate their tradition and DNA of the club. Option A would at least keep the stadium's iconic look as close as it can be to what it is now, and it would also present an opportunity for additional matchday revenue (Train station next to the stadium, higher capacity) and wouldn't cost too much to do.
@noahbowie598511 ай бұрын
I feel like Option B is the most likely option. Old Trafford is already the biggest club stadium in England and doesn't necessarily need to be expanded any further. By improving the exterior and interior it would make a big difference to the fan experience and it would be a much more visual improvement which owners of clubs always love as it means they have something to point to at the end of their tenure as owner as proof of their legacy.

I mean, there is certainly a trend for the 'bubble wrapped' style in the last 20 years or so as the apparent preferred solution to employ externally (Bayern, Real, Spurs, Schalke, etc.), and maybe that means it's time to find a new - or rediscovered old - style to go in a different direction yet again. I just like the idea of the capacity hitting - and maybe even exceeding - 90,000... and perhaps they can fix the roof from leaking whilst they are at it! @@michaelwalker7400

I agree the Stadium should not be moved. But that doesn't mean you can't add new infrastructure. Building over the railway is not difficult by building a bridge over the railway (this is where the gov could help financially). Also expanding all the stands would renew all the old materials of the stadium (a lot of materials could be reused/repurposed as well, help lower the costs. I think we should aim for 100,000 capacity. We need to take our rightful place as being the biggest and best stadium in UK. Or go one further and beat the capacity of "Camp nou" but not at the expense of a loud, penetrating noise (we need to keep that). If we see what others have done or doing eg, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City & Tottenham. we really need to compete with that so that we can also generate more revenue streams by hosting other events. We are one of a few teams that have a lot of land so using state of the art (expensive equipment might not be necessary. What I mean is like Real Madrid and Tottenham's stadiums they've turned their stadiums into multi purpose (which costs a lot more in engineering, etc). I think we should re-build our stadium and also built a 2nd multi-purpose stadium turning our land into an entertainment park, which includes green spaces, a shopping centre, hotels, cinema, museum, entertainment events, other sports events (ice hockey, basketball, boxing, cycling, etc). We would be much more financially better off in the long run if we were to do this and the costs wouldn't be as much as our rivals. We just need to have ambition and a plan for the future.

It's probably less costly for United to build a brand new stadium than to totally revamp the current stadium. Old Trafford is apparently needing major work on the whole structure, especially the roof. To do that amount of work on a whole stadium, they would need to play elsewhere in the meantime, like Real Madrid and Barcelona had to and having to. So where would they play? There isn't a viable option to do that. They have enough ground in that area to build a new stadium whilst still playing at old Trafford, it also removes the problem with the railway and the homes at the back of it too, option a&b would have to be a case of getting those home owners to agree on selling up to the club because of right of light issues. I honestly think the Glaziers have no intention of either redeveloping the current stadium or building a new one, they will probably only sell up once it is at a point where it seriously has to be done either way, or they would of probably done something already.

One factor never mentioned when looking at rebuilding OT is the fact so few kids seem to be in attendance on a matchday, so first of all a stadium that can comfortably hold in excess of 90.000 is essential which would give more opportunity for kids to attend. Secondly the seating in many parts particularly in lthe lower tiers means for many of us we find our knees right up against the back of the seat in front plus the old scoreboard end looks a bit of a mess with half and half situation. Thirdly the Sir Bobby Charlton stand seems out of place with the rest of the stadium. " Am I sitting in the new Main Road" I wonder, which was a bit of a hop scotch stadium. Some criticise the atmosphere in modern stadiums but atmosphere only became an issue i believe when we went all seater, so maybe the new 'Standing Seats' at the front could be the answer as everyone seems to stand up in the front tiers of every home game in the EAST and WEST stands. In light of these issues Option C could be the best way forward and redisgn the current stadium to hold just a few thousand the other non first team fixtures.

It’s apt that it looks very much like an NHS hospital bed pan.

Will this stop the roof from leaking? What about the rat infestation?

im pretty certain those houses on the line wont want a huge wall that close to their house blocking half a days sunlight

How do you do it

Has to be A. Most modern stadiums would incorporate the all round natural light factor - I don't see the other options including this in their designs.

option A very nice, but C extraordinary

Old Trafford doesn't have the leg room in the seats. Need a new modern stadium with screens. I think the best one to copy would be Munichs stadium. Looks great

So i like the covered station as it is kinda cool, but modernise the current design so it is in keeping with old traffords long history and expand the seating to 90000 at least

I think it would be much better to spend on building an entirely new stadium just next door to this spot.. this option would not only be super-expensive, but also the amount spent will have to be amortized out fully as an expense, on the same original property.. whereas building a new stadium can add a new property into the portfolio..

I bet to rebuild it will be as costly as building all new.

As much as the upgrading of just electrical is, I'd expect it to be more.

surely keep the old pitch where it is instead of moving it in optioc c. Could be sold on that

Expand south stand. And make it look like a castle. It will be the most unique stadium in the world. Food for thought.
