For pile #2 (my pile!): I got that it was so much about the prelude to any sexual encounter -- about a personal dilemma that they would have to resolve and release of their own before they would feel comfortable and confident enough to approach their person (the viewer) sexually. Absolutely, I do think as well that for pile #2, although the féminin is the virginal one, the masculin is entering into an unknown territory! even though they are experienced and confident in what they have learnt.
