This is nothing to do with Cliff subsidence it’s to do with greed and back handers. There was nothing wrong with The Futurist the council wouldn’t listen to us townsfolk they went ahead with the demolition so that Flamingo Land could move in, and now they seem to be out of the picture. Believe it or not Dave there used to be an holiday camp on this site until the end of the 1920s. After that The Arcadia was built, a truly beautiful building then The Futurist was built and now Flamingo Land ( the local zoo ) want to build, now get this........a glass water park with viewing tower and rollercoaster! All this infront of people’s homes and these people are now suffering from this building being demolished and the subsidence which has been caused by Willmot Dixon construction. I’m not surprised they didn’t want to talk to you, those guys have taken some right verbal abuse from locals. Flamingo Land and Tesco rule this town, they’ll be elephants instead of donkeys on the beach next lol I’ll email you some photos of this site from 1900 to present day and if you want to use them in your next video please do. Sad what’s happening in this town, over the last 20 years we’ve lost three swimming pools, two theatres, one theme park, countless pubs and a total of 90 hotel, guest houses and bed & breakfast establishments. Sorry for the rant, great video even if I see this site every day.

Absolutely tragic this got pulled down. Yes the subsidence thing is a load of bollocks, probably due to the huge outcry. I watched Ben E King (Stand By Me) who was supported by The Shirelles (Will You Love Me Tommorow) - this was back in early 90s. It was a magical night, probably only about 30-40 watching. There are some marvellous urban explorer pictures of this place prior to closure. You won't believe how amazing it still looked even after being closed for ages. A bloody travesty. Plus that little windy road you walked down has a great picture of The Beatles in the 60s when they played here. Pop "the beatles futurist Scarborough" into Google

many people have said the subsidence excuse was a lie but it is the same country wide the demolition of our past.

Thanks for sharing... It seems to be up hill, so I doubt that it's being turned into a parking lot...but they're excavating for something. Like another commenter I am also wondering what they're digging for in the corner, and why that brave guy had to be down in the hole, a very risky place to be with a digger arm that close by...helmet or not.

Are you going to Scarborough fair?

Will they make it into a "park area", I wonder; not suitable for building on, or maybe a car park? A rose is a rose by any other name....just noticed at the end the digger is excavating soil out of the hole! What's down there? Also, on front pic there were 2 pyramid shaped roof structures and the building looks like it had been extended with tacky frontage from its original design.

miss havisham the ‘tacky’ frontage, the yellow tiles were added in the 60s for no reason at all, behind those tiles was a lovely marble frontage which always reminded me of Portmeirion ( The Prisoner ) in Wales.
