Thank you for sharing Whitby with us, so much history and the views are just amazing. I love to learn about the past history of a town or village, it makes it come alive just thinking of what it must have been like hundreds of years ago.

Yes! I am a bit of a History Head to begin with, and as soon as I laid eyes on the cemetery, I longed to read the stones, which are much older than that of the United States, as you well know. The entire town looks enchanting.
@laurarules3642 Жыл бұрын
@@twistoffate4791 I was there several years ago and one of the cemetery stone that stood out and told a story. Was of a boy and a girl (unrelated) born at exactly the same time and I think they had the same surname (but can't be sure about that) anyway they went on to live separate lives and eventually they fell in love and got married and lived a happy life together and when they died it was at the exact same moment as each other as well.

I have visited your beautiful land five times so far and I'm still planning more and more visits in the future! Just wanted to mention around the 9:30 mark you talk about the Synod of Whitby. This was held in 664, not 1664 (easy to misread when recording your narration, no doubt!). Please don't stop uploading, I can't get enough! All the best from a new fan in Perth, Australia :) :) :)

So much history packed into one place. Had a chuckle at Grape (grope) alley 😂. So one last video in Yorkshire. I’ve really enjoyed the series so far and I’m very grateful for what you guys do. A tip for if you're on a tight budget - stay in Scarborough where accommodation is much cheaper, then use the coastal bus service to visit Whitby; it doesn't take long, is decidedly affordable, with the ride itself, which includes going through Robin Hood's Bay, enjoyable in it's own right - if it's a double-decker, make sure you are on the top deck and as near to the front as possible.

Thank you for all your efforts in producing this video, which is probably even more valuable than you know. I visited the town on a busy day last summer during the jubilee celebrations, but only had 'Heartbeat' and a few Google preview images to go on. As a consequence, I completely missed out on a large number of the views recorded here and learned little about the town's distinguished history in the short time I had at my disposal. As usual when arriving at an unfamiliar location, a lot of time is initially wasted simply parking a car and finding one's bearings. My main excuse was the crowds and traffic issues, but I feel an opportunity was slightly wasted. However, this detailed background story will be invaluable to countless other people planning a more fulfilling journey than my own, or wanting to relive a visit in many years to come. Well done indeed!
