I’m blown away by how well some of these small cars perform. They may be compact, but they don’t compromise on quality.
@iScoopyPal6 ай бұрын
With the current price tags, these small gadgets are all DBP (Death Before Production). If they have an opportunity, their price should be below $5K for golf courses, zoos, and theme parks. A real car such as BYD Seagull < $10K.

Governments need to scrap the whole tax / congestion charges based on fuel type (as EVs are arguably worse than ICE, if not at least not significantly better); and start charging/taxing cars in the CITY based on size and weight. (Not outside the city where large cars are often a necessity.) Then maybe these things will start looking more attractive.

The EV is excellent as a vehicle for less toxins. Unfortunately, mining for lithium is about a billion times worse than running a gas eating vehicle.
@alkaholic48486 ай бұрын
@@nikkylandry1163 Less local toxins yes that is an advantage, but they're also 50% heavier than ICEs which mean you need 50% more energy to push them around, and currently (and for the foreseeable future) all that energy is coming from gas fired power plants. Renewables can't even meet domestic requirements so anything additional to domestic requirements (eg EVs) has to be met by fossil fuels.

That Aptera is a Gamma prototype. Not all Alpha's had three motors, either. Comma AI is not available on the launch model, even if it becomes real; all they do is provide the mounting point. Alpha's don't go beyond being just a car. In fact they don't reach being a car at all. They are three fake prototypes that had no solar at all - just faked cells for appearance, and their battery was a small (probably forklift) battery that couldn't go five miles and would overheat twice to get there. They were devoid of most features the snake oil salesmen said they had.

parking between parked cars is NOT a good idea! parallel parked cars have that space because they need it to get out of the park. if i found a small vehicle blocking me like that i would probably get upset and think about denting it really good.

The Squad City Car needs no license to operate? That depends on where. In New York, for sure, it would need to be licensed. I think actually anywhere it is used on the streets, it would need to be licensed, just like any NEV.

What about crash safety regulations? Are there really no crash tests for such micro-machines? And how are they certified for production and operation in this aspect? China, okay, but how is such a car-coffin allowed in security-obsessed Europe? After all, God forbid, for example, if such a truck hits a car, it will fly away somersaulting or on its side! This is not to mention a simple fairly strong blow from the front or side... Can someone enlighten me on this issue?

Code words include sustainability, environmentally friendly, cleaner, carbon footprint, etc. All of these vehicles require oil-based products for production, I'm about 99.9% sure that some form of oil using vehicle to mine ore for its materials...the batteries for these ev's aren't friendly to anything. Now, if you are talking about how cool they are, yeah, sure, they are cool and there are a couple I'd like to own...just not for any of those "code words" that some people are tricked into believing. The down side to all of these small EV's is safety...like EV vs. Car or EV vs. Truck or EV vs. Semi or EV vs. Bus....I think the chances of surviving in motor vehicle accidents wouldn't be good.

In America, if you drive in the center of the road, to get thru traffic, you're going to get a ticket. So, showing these EV's "avoiding" traffic, cause they can fit between to stopped lanes of traffic, is misleading. Watching these small EV's park, like someone said below, they park like assholes. In America, you have to park in a parking space, most of the time. One that is marked out with painted lines. So parking "between" to parked cars? No, you're going to get a ticket. Or, your EV is going to suffer some vandalism....

All trikes suck. They are designed to drive only on ideal roads, which is unrealistic. The designers who create these trikes do not understand anything about the automotive industry.
@pauls57456 ай бұрын
yeah. better recall all the TukTuks in Thailand and Cushman trucksters in Europe. What were they thinking to make such an unrealistic vehicle.
@Ozone0776 ай бұрын
And what is their number in relation to traditional cars and bikes? A traditional four-wheel vehicle creates two tracks. The bike rides along one track. A trike needs three tracks! The trike gets into any obstacle on the road with one of its wheels! The only trikes that were widely used were bikes with a sidecar. But a bike with a sidecar also travels on two tracks, just like a traditional car.
