I just saw Sleep last Wednesday, June 5th, at The Intersection in Grand Rapids MI. Loudest show I've ever been to, and also one of the chillest crowds. Matt and Al were both rocking five amplifiers each, and Matt had a wall of seven 4x12s going. Big Business killed it as the opener, and the venue was thoroughly hotboxed by the time Sleep was done. I have never seen so much weed smoked at a show lol

I got to see Sleep at First Avenue in Minneapolis a little over a week ago. After Dopesmoker was over, Al Cisneros just kneels in front of his amps like he was meditating and just rests his head on the amps while they were feedbacking like crazy. He did that for a solid minute straight and Matt just looked at him like, "Umm.. you ok there, bro?"

Saw Sleep in Portland at the Roseland couple years ago. Bell witch opened, played most of their new album I believe (forget the name). @@bradgould Looking forward to that show! They are different. The FET120 circuit is strictly the preamp section of an Orange OR120, the DA120 is a full emulation of a boosted Matamp GT120. The DA120 sounds like the FET120 with a boost. Both are absolutely killer.

You should also try emulating Phil Cope's tone of WFG. I know about 90% of what he used. His is very hard to nail down though. You can't do it without the right speaker cabs.

All songs on Burning a Sinner 7", Soviet Invasion, and the first 5 songs on Death Penalty are tuned to C standard. On Death Penalty songs 6 and 7 are a quarter step above C standard. I don't think they tuned right or something was off. The same goes for Friends of Hell. Mostly C standard but I Lost You is slightly a quarter step out of tune. I think Friends of Hell the song might be a quarter step high of C standard too.

How would you compare this pedal to dunwhich’s take on the matamp sound? Do you have a preference, is one higher gain than the other?

The Fuzzlord FET120 is a mosfet based version of an Orange OR120 preamp. The Dunwich DA120-OD is a mosfet based emulation of a boosted/overdriven Matamp GT120 (includes phase investor emulation). The Dunwich definitely has more gain and is sort of all-in-one pedal, whereas you can stack your own dirt / boost into the Fuzzlord. Both are killer.

The pedal sounds similar through most any amp. When I bypass the preamp by running into the Echo Return, you get a pretty good sense for the raw tone of the pedal imo.
