You sir are the reason I bought my Ferris FW15 two years ago. Your FW15 videos are the best on KZbin. Ferris should cut you a check. I always check back from time to time to see if you've posted anything new on the FW15. So, I was very happy to see this video. Keep up the great work. My FW15 draws a lot of attention from my neighbors everytime I cut with it. "What is that?!", they always say. 🤣 I use it to mow my lawn which is 18,000 Sq.ft. I upgraded from a 21" Honda HRX217. GCV200. I love everything about it. Thanks. 👍🏽

I did my first mow of the year 2 days ago on Thursday 4/28. Took 5 pulls on the lawn mower (usually 1) and I was off. I've got some areas with moss ( should have treated a month ago) and need to buy a roll of sod from Home Depot to fill in a few bare spots. I have to use a grass catcher because we get a lot of rain here in the pacific northwest and it adds to the moss.

Just purchased this model and it was pretty beat up. did an oil change, the spark plug, and greased the spindles. Any other places to grease? What type of grease do you use. It also says to oil the chain, and a few other areas. What type of oil do you use? Thank you and have a great day! Any other things information on how to maintain would be greatly appreciated

Quickchute and factory set up is versatile for you. Besides not versatile, did the mulch kit have any positives for the business? Would you tell a first timer to buy the quickchute over the mulch kit?
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
I liked the mulch kit on weekly lawns, but any lawn that had more than a week of growth was a pain. The mulch kit is good in a controlled environment, but not for all situations like the Qwuickchute.

I am looking at this vs the Scag 30 caster vs the Wright Velke 36. I keep leaning towards this one though...... it will be for my own personal use on about 1/3 acre lawn with a single rolling berm in the front. How does it do on small hills with the casters? My better half thinks I'm over buying, but after having had a 36 walk behind several years ago and having a lush yard, I am tired of dealing with a 21" Husqvarna that struggles with the thick grass paired with a small hill.

Hey Bud, I know I’m extremely late on this video… I recently purchased a Ferris fw15, my first mow I had no problems but my 2nd mow the blades started hitting each other… any ideas on what happened and what the solution would be to fix this?
@HandyGuy20164 ай бұрын
The blades are timed and off set -/ Either a blade is loose or the timing belt is. I have seen blades mounted improperly where they smash the knobs on the spindles and the blades hit, check that also.

I had that mower for a week and tested it out. It has lots of power but that’s the only thing I like about it. The hydros don’t do the turning and maneuvering justice on this machine and the size is just to big for residential properties that have lots of landscaping. I just could not justify buying this mower or using one for any of my properties. Glad you were able to make use of it, I just think snapper/Ferris should have stayed out of the small mower market it doesn’t work for them.

Looks good! I recently bought an FW15 for this season. Are you running anything different under the deck? I've seen in other videos that you had a mulch kit installed. Do you still have that kit in there or are you using the regular set up with the quickchute?

The real Truth is that the Ferris FW15 Is not Built for Mulching It is designed for side discharging ONLY. For (Commercial Property Mowing) Commercial property owners don't give a shit about mulching the grass they just want it cut using a mulching for the commercial property is a personal preference of the operator of the Ferris FW15 But they made a Mulch kit anyway for it (For Home Users) and the bagging system Kit To suck up Home property tree leaves ect.. That is why 3 different type blades to use (High Lift, Medium lift Blades) for side discharging, and mulching blades to mulch Grass and leaves For The Bagging System --->( FOR THE HOME USER ONLY ) 👍

I understand, it's like any other piece of equipment, it has to be making you money and increasing efficiency or it's just an expense. For us, it's definitely earned it's keep and been able to tackle things a push mower couldn't.
