FwooshCast: X-Men Marvel Legends Apocalypse Wave Review

Veebs was lucky enough to have a friend in Canada snag the new X-Men Marvel Legends Apocalypse wave and then that friend was nice enough to send it to us for a review! So you know I had to make that drive. We took some of the suggestions from the last FwooshCast into consideration and hopefully upped our review game, getting the toys in front of the camera. It's still a work in progress, hopefully for the better! But let's take a look at Multiple Man, Gladiator, Magneto, Sabretooth, Psylocke, Storm, Wolverine, and finally Apocalypse!

@@TheFwoosh storm Ororo Munroe has gone to a punk rock eighties kind of look which I think is totally cool. it shows how far she has come since the very beginning of her birth place seeing Charles Xavier in her child years it was kind of funny actually. now these heroes can give us world peace from crimes and hatred from people. well outsiders are going to argue that mutants are bad should have no rights and privileges because of powers and looks that mutants appear as. the world is like that we have certain groups like SJWS attacking things other people enjoy in life. transgenders are made fun of or also hated by groups when they did nothing wrong. Xavier's dream is that people and mutants can work together both live in a peaceful coexistence with others and we have Magneto thinking non humans are always a threat to mutants. the one most important thing about heroes is wanting to help not fight others. it's clear something needs to be done in a good way for peace to happen. we know that the world isn't perfect but there are people like Xavier and Magneto that will disagree with each other on how to deal with enemies. the fifties and forties had such bad history towards others. we found out in Star Wars that Jedi and Sith are not always what they seem to be in the republic or anywhere in the galaxy. here is a question would heroes save people even ones that hate them? in Watchmen Rourshack is thinking a city of corrupt bad people would ask for help and he will say no to them. it makes fans think about a lot of things like the show Quantum Leap a doctor Sam Beckett puts right what has gone wrong in time periods. and he wants to get back home again to the future however the future is a mess. if the human race wants years to get better then society needs to make better choices from now on so the future of the world doesn't suck.

So this set is what is getting me into Marvel Legends. I know, I know...late to the game. I usually tried to stay away from just "regular" toys in my collection, sticking to Figuarts and the like, but they nailed the look and hit me right in my nostalgia. Back tracking a bit and now picking up anything 80s/90s X-Men.

X-Men the animated series was my first introduction and to this day is still the definitive on-screen depiction of these characters. I say this in full confidence due to how well the show mixed both original storys that were just as good as Chris Claremont's Days Of Future Past and The Pheinox Saga adaptations were . My first xmen figure was the ToyBiz Wolverine action figure in 1992. I remember owning the ToyBiz Sabertooth also. Owning those two will be so cool.

I just love how Robo says that Apocalypse can't go into the most dynamic poses, and mere seconds later the figure proves him wrong by being able to do splits further than most Spider Man figures. CLASSIC ROBO!

Hasbro, if you're reading this, PLEASE, for the worldwide release of the wave, give Psylocke the same headsculpt you showed up in previous cons, the one with the purple dry wash in her hair just like in the prototype , that looks 100% way better than just a plain black hair, make it happen!

We've had some sitdowns at cons like SDCC and Planet Comic Con in KC where we looked at the Vintage wave, but the only other wave review was the Spider-Man Legends Lizard wave a few months ago and it was shot way different. Couldn't see the toys because we didn't get closeups.

Great review guys! I really wish Hasbro would redo The Brotherhood of Mutants that ToyBiz started but couldn't finish. The wolverine looks like a shrunken version of the ML 12" figure.

The new one, that came with the love triangle 3 pack, is almost a direct copy of the 12 inch wolverine. It comes with the head sculpt with his mask ripped and his hair poking through. Good figure

You two have a great dynamic, cant imagine spending this long watching a single video anout some toys with anyone else. Cant wait for this wave, and 100% agree on them missing the mark for Psylockes body type and purple hair. Thinking of grabbing an extra moonstone body of someone somewhat cheap like captain marvel maybee and cracking the upper torso and painting it up to match. That and drybrushing some purple paint over her hair should have her looking pretty good. Also feel ya on the multiple man, if have preffered the green shirt with gold circles version as well.

Opening up the video by humming the Fox X-Men animated series theme was a real win. Sabertooth almost sticking his landing was another win! Also, the answer to your question about 90's Magneto ("Why was he bulkier?") has a very easy answer: Because Jim Lee. His version of Cyclops was bulky too. Too bulky, IMHO.

Multiple man is definitely will be triple in my shelf. They will be 3Xtimes. Gladiator. I always wanted. I'm glad this is in this wave. I just started collecting Marvel legend. And I'm sticking on the Hasbro line. The one gripe I'm having is that lanky Iceman/Iron Fist waist line. They need to beef up the belly. I would like as a build a figure is a new Blob, Nimrod, Sentinel, Mojo, Strong Guy, Mastermold. And even a BAF wing arch/angel. Like the Vulture wave. Then in another wave you can just get repaints of the body and attach the open wings. Let the new repaints come with a closed versions of the wings. That Sabertooth looks great. It will probably replace my Marvel Select one. Yes. Many figures should come with multiple heads. A serious, a action and smiley face. Psylocke. I think they should have painted that whole waistline and left the legs bare. I may get 2 and repaint one. Storm. I wish they made a full hair mold head to swap both. I like this a lot. Wolverine. Well. We are saturated with Wolvie. One more cant be harmful. All the Logan's should use this mold. Apocalypse. To me is way cool. It would be nice to have had attachments. An extra head that's not grinning. To bad we can't get some Celestials the size of that old Apocalypse mold. This wave to me is dope. I can't wait for the preorder.

Honestly even though Gladiator is on the Hyperion mold it's my favorite from this wave... It would have been Apocalypse had he been more of the classic look. I keep visualizing that Gladiator no selling Juggernaut's chest punch and then chucking him hundreds of miles away into the ocean!

Love it. just little minor corrections. yeah that magneto is spider uk apart from the new shins made to attach those boots, The sabretooth is new head, forearms, fur, and hands. They are close but not as awkwardly open palmed and more lion like.

Psylocke's sash is actually set on the left side. Traditionally, Men set it on the left while women set it on the right, but in Psylocke, and Hellcat's case, the artist drew them on the left side.

Finally a baf I actually want, too many waves have come out in the last year or so with bafs that are more than disappointing. Got to have that baf, sabertooth, storm, psylock, wolverine and magneto. Oh and multiple-man for a gambit custom. cool part is he'll be selling for dirt cheap so it will be easy to get multiples to do several. Magneto is easy enough to repaint so I don't care about the colorscheme. The sculpt is all there and that's the important thing to me. Knowing hasbro, they went with this colorscheme just so they can sell the hell out of this figure and then offer up a two pack with a repaint to sell you the same figure over again.
