There is one advantage of the current Lego train system, the use of pulse modulation to change the train speed and it would be great if Fx in their future offering of motors etc supported this. This is different from the DCC protocol of control. Power - V^2 / R - which means that at max voltage we get max (peak) power, but at half voltage with get 1/4 power. The result is that at slow speed the motor generates little power and can easily stall, or slow on curves. With pulse modulation the voltage is constant, but the "duty cycle" is changed so if the duty cycle is 50% we get 50% power. The user experience of this is that slow speed use is held more reliably and stalling is less likely. Of course, the advanced DCC systems use a feedback to manage train power to mitigate the slowing down/stalling, but pulse modulation was a good choice by Lego group to give a very simple and effective train speed control. This speed control is way better than the old voltage regulated systems of Lego or even non-Lego model trains. I live in hope that Fx may be able to combine DCC control and pulse modulation to make their L-gauge system the very best train system available. Then Britisbricks gets hired by Lego and we call get glorious Lego train models and unlimited rollingstock.......... Oh, I just woke up....

"this is what every train fan has wanted since the end of 9v age" Believe me when I first heard about it, I was really excited! But then...I saw how much one pack of straight tracks is. 60 Euro? For 8? Thats the price for 20 old 9v straight tracks on ebay. I get less track for paying more? No fricking way Im buying these. Yes I know these are double the lenghs of one Lego track but that would still be 16 tracks for 60 euros My only hope is that they will go down in price in couple of months. Otherwise this is just ridicules
@Britishbricks3 жыл бұрын
Let me stop you right there. While I appreciate the price of this track is high, you aren’t factoring in some important points. Using AUD let me point out that the average price of 9V straight track is $6.90 - 16 pieces of track will cost you around AUD$110. Converting FxTrack to AUD it works out to be AUD$113. That’s only $3 dollars more than USED track. Now eBay is a different story. You can get lucky, although coming from someone who lives in a place where 9V track is scarce, I often pay too much for what I’m getting. Bringing it back to bricklink, I’ve order lots of track, that are what I call ‘ blind orders’. Often times I don’t know what I’m getting. I’ve spent loads of cash on pieces that have rust, decay or are even broken. Add that on top of shipping costs and I find myself incredibly disappointed. So, clearly for me and I’m sure many others, that extra $3 of ‘insurance’ let’s me know that I’m getting the highest quality of product. Know does that sound “ridiculous” to you? - Britishbricks
@FloundFahrdienst3 жыл бұрын
@@Britishbricks average price of 6.90?? What?? Here in germany on ebay the average price is 3. Last time I checked on bricklink its 3 up to 4 for one straight track. However its possible that the us or uk price is much higher like you said Edit: I just checked and this is page 3 on bricklink www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=2865&name=Train,%20Track%209V%20Straight&category=%5BTrain,%20Track%5D#T=S&O={%22pi%22:%223%22,%22iconly%22:0} You said you had bad experience with sellers like these? Thats why I always recomend sellers on ebay where you can see the condition. But like I said I dont know the price on ebay uk
@Britishbricks3 жыл бұрын
@@FloundFahrdienst I’m going off the average price given on the parts guide. As I stated before 6.90 in AUD (the Australian dollar)! Not (euro?) 3 or 4... Now, eBay lots are great but like I said, rare for some like myself. This solution provides the majority of us with a high quality product, that from what I can tell performs much better compared to second-hand track. Though you may see this as overpriced from you position, I think it’s important we all support FxBrick. They are the ones providing us with new, exciting products: bigger turnouts, motors and larger curves...etc! Without our support, they can’t continue to grow as quickly as we’d like them too.
