It was creeated to move away from mostly white casts, not to promote black casts. Hopefully it won’t backfire to prevent recognising different forms of diversity than purely certain numbers within one production.

I have a impression that historical dramas in Japan these days have somehow modernized in a very wrong way. The way of samurai talking and their acting etc. Compared with the old days, recent ones are just too light samurai dramas. So I was very impressed that such neat drama were produced overseas. On the details I can see the Western sense though, but well balanced made for Japanese watchers and Western background watchers. One regret is that it may be difficult to produce a historical drama of this scale without foreign capital. I hope the Japanese medias, filmmakers will watch this programme and reflect on it.

It is number one of all time on Fulu. That's how much people all over the world sympathize with it. Comparable to Game of Thrones In fact, it can be said that it is a work that may even surpass it.

This was actually the way women who were royalty would speak back in the day. The idea was that they were to present themselves as something like a living doll, minimal facial movements, expression of emotion, almost robotic. If you watch any of Kurosawa's films you will see this as well. Throne of Blood is one example, the primary character's wife hardly moves her lips and is like a ventriloquist's dummy. Very spooky the first time you see it.
