How to add mocha to hitfilm pro ??
@DerekHartley7 жыл бұрын
Another great tutorial from Axel. Pretty happy with my recreation too. So glad I bought the mocha Hitfilm plugin over Christmas.
@TheNewton7 жыл бұрын
Hitfilm express users can kinda do the stuff after the 7:50 mark without the mocha pack. You can still use the images in the project zip but wont be able to open the hfp (.hfp) and you wont be able to use the channel-mixer effect( _maybe in the colorist pack_ ? ) This means you will have to build your color split "channels" with things like hue&rgb key, demult, black and white, hue shift , fill colors, etc and probably grade layers to get kinda near a holographic effect. Or split your image into multiple colors in an external tool.
@HitfilmUniversity7 жыл бұрын
Channel Mixer is a Pro-only effect. Bear in mind one could plan several other ways of setting up the channels when creating the initial graphics. Yeah, Pacific Rim's holograms were the inspiration, but the real point of the tutorial was when Axel took the green channel and remapped it to the red channel to create a fake yellow channel (then comped in ADD mode over the green, thus basically destroying 90% of the green info). I'd argue one should create one's graphics in grayscale to begin with. After that, Hitfilm Express has a whole group of tools to colorize layers (HSL, Gamma, Curves, Color Balance, and Hue Colorize, among others) with masks being used to omit areas as needed. With the graphics in this tutorial only the red-green status bars had multiple colors. Everything else could have been gray or white and colored as discussed... But that wouldn't be a channel mixer tutorial. :D Of course Axel's particular example only needed mocha because the camera was moving and rotating. A static cam needs no tracking and a linear move only needs point tracking, so there are a whole bunch of ways to get this same look in Express. Paul, as I'm sure you're aware, in most compositing software a specific task usually can't be done at all, or can be done at least six different ways. :)
@HitfilmUniversity7 жыл бұрын
So for Express users using the provided files, perhaps counterintuitively, I'd say use Hue Saturation to knock everything back to grey then use other tools to recolor channels on different layers, using masks to limit various colors. I might even go so far as to say space out the layers in 3D space (with ADD blends) in the embedded comp, then bring the embedded comp in over the video as a 3D Unrolled layer! Check out the Head's Up playlist on this channel. One of the HUD tutorials there covers spacing out HUD elements in an embedded Composite Shot then comping the embedded HUD in 3D Unrolled mode. See, at LEAST six other approaches to this type of look!

Channel Mixer getting some love! Initially I was wondering why Axel was doing red, green, blue and yellow overlays (since red+green=yellow), but was tickled to see him sneak in a power tip for transposing channel data with the mixer--the true power of the effect. I'd argue that the final composite could do with some tweaking of layer opacities since blending the yellow layer over the green layer is basically going to turn all green to yellow at point of overlap (while the existing green/red channels already create yellow), but, since the true point of the tutorial is showing the power of the channel mixer, nice job, Axe-man! Looks like the rebuild is proceeding apace. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before Axel, Mrs. Axel and Stoli have a complete roof back over their heads.

Crystal Temptations that's really more about practical rigging than VFX work. Usually that's going to be a stunt performer on a wire rig. Look up the Film Riot tutorial "Punt Your Friends" or the Wren the Reaper "Falcon Punch Epictorial." Both cover using greenscreen and/or roto to make an actor fly from an impact--which is what a Force Push is. These are After Effects tutorials but the techniques are the same in Hitfilm. Chroma Key is Chroma Key, masking is masking, scaling is scaling.

Geomi If you're referring to Mocha and you are an Express user--have you purchased the Mocha Hitfilm add on? If not, well, you don't have Mocha. If you are referring to the point tracker, in the layer controls there is a "+" icon next to the Tracks tab. You have to click this icon and create a track field before the tracking controls activate.

Geomi Ok. On my channel you can view Essential Hitfilm 01--The Hitfilm Interface or search KZbin for a Hitfilm Interface tutorial (this channel's playlists will have some) for a video walk through. I'll try in text. On the very top of the Hitfilm interface, left of center, is an icon that looks like nine squares. This is the Workspaces menu. Click that and check "Tracking." This will turn the tab on. Watching a full tutorial will show you how to fully customize your interface, and how to save and load custom workspaces. But this should at least let you find those controls and get tracking!

BRAVE MAN There is only one effect in Hitfilm that could give audio reactions to text--Atomic Particles. If you use Express this is part of the Audio/Visual add-on. Check this channel's playlists for the Particle Tutorials playlists. Look for the Atomic Particles tutorials. Most of these go back to Hitfilm 2 Ultimate, but Atomic Particles hasn't changed at all. The interface will be a little different, but the techniques are the same, and the information you're after is already there.

Hi, I have recently worked on something for 2 weeks, and when I go to export it, the first time it gets up to 50 percent done, and then it has an error. Other times, it's at most 3 percent. This is agitating me severely, and I can't find a fix for it anywhere. I'm trying to remake the original Star Wars so I'm wondering if the music might have something to do with it. Thanks. P.S. it doesn't say what the problem is. It JUST says, "process finished unexpectedly." I don't think it's the music because I've edited this video several times and exported it but with the music still in place.

Or, plan the shot around a different camera move. A static camera wouldn't need any tracking. A straight linear move could be tracked with the point tracker. This only needed mocha because the camera was moving and rotating. Mocha is totally nonessential for this effect. It's all about the channel mixer. That said the channel mixer is Pro-only. Great, let's do this a different way... Make all of your initial graphics gray (or, if using the files provided here, use Hue/Saturation to make it gray), then use tools like Curves, Hue Colorize, Gamma, Color Balance, Hue Colorize or several others to add in color. Use masks and duplicate layers to limit where you want colors. Now, stack your layers in 3D space in the hologram composite shot and drag that in over the video and set the embedded composite to 3D Unrolled... Check out this channel's playlists. Look for "Heads Up." One of the HUD tutorials in that playlist is all about what I wrote above: stacking in 3D space then compositing in 3D Unrolled.

@anshupandey35827 жыл бұрын
Paul Newton I meant to say that they should make a software which is dedicated only for compositing, not editor included with it
@inScapeDigital7 жыл бұрын
Why? One of the main draws of HitFilm since the beginning is that it's an editor and compositor in one.
@TheNewton7 жыл бұрын
+inScape Digital ' _One of the main draws of HitFilm since the beginning is that it's an editor and compositor in one_ ' Hitfilm does *layer* based compositing, in the loosest sense, this creates serious workflow issues as complexity/automation grows, ala precomp hell in aftereffects. Compare this to a node based flow in blender,natron,fusion, or nuke. A scripting engine,expressions, or a wiring system added to hitfilm would help with flexibility. But for other software users it would be a half measure in comparison. www.videomaker.com/article/c3/17836-nodes-vs-layers

NDKfilms you could make a similar effect in Hitfilm express, you could track your footage by hand or use a steady shot, making parts of the hologram move is done the same, instead of the gleam effect you could use a flare effect then color correct et voila! Most of their Hitfilm pro tutorials can be made in express but will cost some more time and creativity, but that is what these tutorials are about, using parts of it to create your own effects.

The tutorials fortunately aren't meant to be done at the same time as the presenter. If it was done in real time there would be a lot of large pauses unfortunately. We'd also have to guess the average time it would take each user to follow each step. The best thing to do is pause after each step so that you can follow in your own time and really understand the techniques being used :) - Oli (HitFilm staff)

Good concept you should develop it further. Very ala sixth sense. Show it off at hitfilm.com/forum/categories/work-gallery. You may want to rewrite your videos description to not have spoiler. Too heavy on the desaturation though totally get why you had too , consider an alarm that sounds similar to the end EKG to bookend your film aka opening shot tells the story , stair walking montage sync'd to music was cool; spitball perhaps a directors cut as stop motion for the whole thing. , blank stares at breakfast seemed to be going for something?? but misses the mark , eating pancakes downshot was nice! , downshot spitballs - maybe theme wise only 1 persons hands should enter the shot at any 1 time instead of 1 at a time movement with jump cuts, or change lighting so more time than normal has passed. , maybe 1 take instead of time jump edits /shrug then during reveal play back true perspective on breakfast of him walking around. , vault lady scene was odd probably cuz of whose perspective was being shown got thrown out , vault lady scene maybe dad should be wearing the grey t-shirt or a flash of nail polish by signing something for story theme|continuity|clue when "he" came to the door the 2nd time , the buddy scene kinda had same issue keeping with theme but missing something maybe carrying the book but that cause a problem later with dad sitting still /shrug. maybe wearing both necklaces? , characters implied interaction isn't played up enough the things they do affect him(nailpolish) but stuff he does doesn't affect them or their appearance(necklaces) , but the non-active family members being frozen at specific times is very nice if made longer dialogue would be really interesting with single speakers and non-interaction. , end reveal of nailpolish may be to far timewise from when polish was put on , not a fan of the the heartbeat monitor but what other options are there really , the ends pan shot and hidden cuts is very well done and thought out. Forgive me i just chugged a lot of caffeine
