I was a BFD2 user for a couple of years. Have been using BFD3 for a month and after getting over the original shock I must say it is excellent. @Eomak- think of it as BFD2 with a bigger library that is smoother and more controllable. The mix and routing options are better, which is important from a mixing point of view. If you liked the way BFD2 worked, then you will love this. But it is an "upgrade" in the purest sense of the word - there are no really new features, but every existing feature has been improved. Basically, if someone decided to stay on BFD2 their world wouldn't collapse. BFD3 is better, but not in a "OMG" sort of way.

when using the distance knob on the overheads is there an option to dial in some lookahead on that track so that there will be no actual delay but just the sound characteristics of distance?

Great review, Ive been looking to upgrade my TD20 for some time and really didn't want to go to a TD30 hardware based given my recording style has changed a heap in the last 10 years. The GUI interface makes perfect sense to me to easily grab a parameter without scrolling through options and sub menus on a single small LCD display. I heard a guy recently playing a hybrid kit live with MacPro and BFD3 and i shit you not it sounded better out FOH than most live kits in 20k arena, , BFD3 seems like my next purchase linked to TD20 as trigger interface.

Hi. I hope to have an answer, this vid is 6 years old so no one might look after it anymore... I am using BFD3 in Cakewalk Sonar by Bandlab. Somehow I am stuck with audio channel routing. Within BFD3, I got 2 mono out and 6 stereo out. But then, questions arise: in Cakewalk, still, all the audio come only out through the BFD instrument track. I had wanted the kick, the snare, the hi-hat, the cymbals, the toms, the percussion each in a separate channel / audio track, and I do not know how. I've tried so many things, checked a lot of videos, but none of them uses Cakewalk as a host. Is there a tutorial I didn't find yet? BFD 3 hosted by Cakewalk on a PC (Win 10) machine? Thankx.

I am looking to upgrade my 'drummer'. I have been using a Boss Dr 880 drum machine, but I am now looking to purchase software. I kind of like 'Studio Drummer' from Native Instruments, but 'Addictive Drummer' is also appealing. Any suggestions or words of wisdom you could share would be appreciated.

I heard that there are patches of kits etc that sound good off the bat for studio recording and thus a real use in tracks for an album etc as opposed to the sounds like a good kit in a room which BFD2 had in spades ? this is why I used Superior Drummer 2 Metal Foundry instead because the kit patches were more usable off the bat for that purpose. The drawback to superior drummer 2 seemed to be an input velocity curve problem or something when using with a decent set of midi drums whereas BFD 2 was much better in that respect. I would like to have the best of both worlds in the end from this, is it good for that ? ( I`m mainly looking at the more extreme metal style produced kit )

Hey man, can you do a quick demo on muting snare bleed in all the ambient mics/amb mix? Ive tried everything and cant get all the snare bleed or buzz out of the ambient mics. The only thing i see that can be done is to the mute most of these mics which defeats the whole purpose. Turning snare bleed off, the trims off and the send function off only seems to affect the close/direct mics. I need the snare buzz muted from every mic if possible. For instance if I load bfd3 up and load a gretsch mid tom, if i do a tom hit the snare bleeds into all the close and ambient mics. If i turn of kick and snare bleed and turn the trims down and the send it kills and the buzz from the close mics when hitting the tom but not out of the ambient channels. Is there a work around or function for turning off snare buzz in the ambient channels as well when the tom is hit?

hi I would like to ask a few questions regarding midi editing in the interface if i construct the drum track IN BFD3 entirely,is it possible to implement time signature/tempo changes? also, i loved how tweak-able the weight knob is - do you reckon i can automate it to do things like a build up of velocity within a groove without manually drawing the entire velocity chart again (what i used to do)? :)
@Eomak11 жыл бұрын
Has the sound engine improved over BFD2? as in drum samples are recorded at a much higher quality/runs a bit smoother?BFD2 still sounds good.or is it just a better easier interface and drum samples are just mixed better? As in BFD2 is pretty much the highest sound quality you can get in the digital world of drums?
