Ivan’s Rebellion is one of the most interesting sections from any philosophical novel/section I have read so far in life. His anger, anguish, and despair over these concepts are definitely familiar to some...thanks for the video once again of this amazing work!

Thank you for your video Dr Sadler. It is 4am here and I can't sleep because I confess I've been dealing with the same exact though patterns, from A to B, that Ivan speaks of in this particular chapter from Brothers Karamazov. It is of pure coincidence that my rabbit hole descent found this all tonight, and it is disturbing, but perhaps reassuring to know that whatever I have been feeling and churning within my head has been put into words so succinctly in Ivan's words and later yours. I don't know if Ivan found his answers or managed to reconcile his world views... I certainly can't at this time of night. No doubt my contemplation will lead me to some answers but for now I will return to try and sleep. Thank you for providing to me a moment of calm and lucidity.

I wonder if Ivan would act any differently if the injustice that bothered him would have been given back for his own wishes, that the whole thing being begat so by to uphold justice, in the longer run, seems like dissonance rather than it does harmonious and right. Certainly he ops out and rebels altogether and totally abandons it, although that also means he turns them, being whosoever needs help, away empty then without care.

Gregory B. Sadler basically just that the outrage was justified, unlike the choice of rejecting that atonement, which would prolong the need for it. But discipline is important and furthering that should be chosen rather than not, so the idea of some morbidly sadistic God who’s only toying with peoples lives to artificially necessitate that thing, shouldn’t be so valid of an objection, but I’m not excusing excessively overbearing punishments by being forgiving, albeit even if that graciousness isn’t also called for. Maybe the opportunity to mend things isn’t taken because that admits that they were objectively mistaken somehow, which is much worse than being beguiled by predestination. Like if he were the judge of it, he’d do what God would also. So, theologically speaking, Ivan has no understanding, or so we shall see!

"The great plan". I wonder if one would be so happy with the great plan if one was at the bottom carrying it all. According to St. Augustine, we are born in original sin. Ivan, look at me.Yes, these stories are bs. I do not deny that. But they contain the right direction. Seek harmony in yourself first, and then try to share it with others. You are nurturing hell. The sensation of righteous wrath will cause destruction and ultimately self-destruction in your life.
