Samuel Coleridge- Taylor (1875-1912) was an English Composer. He was born to an English woman (Alice Hare Martin), and Dr. Daniel Peter Hughes Taylor, a Krio from Sierra Leone who had studied medicine in the capital. His mother named him Samuel Coleridge Taylor after the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. His father went back to Africa without knowing his mother was pregnant.
The family arranged for Taylor to study at the Royal College of Music, beginning at the age of 15. He changed from violin to composition, working under professor Charles Villiers Stanford.
In 1894, his father was appointed coroner for the British Empire in the Province of Senegambia.
Coleridge-Taylor's greatest success was undoubtedly his cantata Hiawatha's Wedding Feast, which was widely performed by choral groups in England during Coleridge-Taylor's lifetime and in the decades after his death. Its popularity was rivalled only by the choral standards Handel's Messiah and Mendelssohn's Elijah. Of mixed race birth, Coleridge-Taylor achieved such success that he was referred to by white New York musicians as the "African Mahler" when he had three tours of the United States in the early 1900s.
Coleridge-Taylor also composed chamber music, anthems, and the African Dances for violin, among other works. The Petite Suite de Concert is still regularly played. Coleridge-Taylor composed a violin concerto for the American violinist Maud Powell.
Coleridge-Taylor was 37 when he died of pneumonia. His death is often attributed to the stress of his financial situation.

No 3 is absolutely beguiling at the heart of this little set. I hear slight echoes of Janacek.

Listening from 3m 11 the 3 chords in the score are C# major, C#minor/E, A major. Doesn't she play the middle one as augmented Cnatural, E, G#. Makes me think there's another edition and that the one shown here which matches that on imslp is not correct/the-only-one
