I really appreciate this comparison as I had an FZ300 and now miss it, but the low light noise was the biggest drawback. For improvement, it would be great if both cameras were on a fixed bracket so they can both see the same angle constantly, as in some parts the 300 had more of the street and the 1000 had more wall in view. That said, the shadow detail on the 1000 is clearly better when you panned onto the side of the car, and there are no horrible lens flares when facing the oncoming traffic. The hanging shop sign and the cinema sign show just how blown the highlights can be on the smaller sensor cameras, and help remind me that I probably shouldn't buy another one. I've started thinking about an FZ1000 2 so this comparison is vital, thanks again!

Thank you for your video. I have the fz300 that I use 99% outdoors and was considering the fz1000ii, but from your advice that I've read throughout the comments, in good lighting the fz300 does very well and it's almost comparable to the fz1000ii. If that is correct I would prefer staying with the 300 for now as it's weather sealed an I use it pretty ruggedly. Really appreciate the advice and experience you shared. 👍

Thank you for watching! For any daytime shooting the FZ300 is the camera I pick up first. It has less crop in HD and 4K shooting. The focus is faster and more accurate and of course the longer zoom range.

It is set up so you can only record 29 minutes and 59 seconds continuously. However, as long as you do not mind starting and stopping recording every 29 minutes and 59 seconds you can record until your memory card is full. I have done 3 hours of video with no heating problems.

Are they showing you the camera are just a box? Make sure you ask what comes in the box, because some websites you can not trust, what are the websites, and how much are they.

I watched both cameras in your daylight tests and concluded the difference is visible, the FZ1000 is slightly better, but overall the FZ300 can hold up well. However, here the difference is very visible. Clearly better sharpness and better dynamic range for the FZ1000 in low light situations. The FZ300 seems to apply heavy noise reduction. The result is still usable, but at least one step below the FZ1000. Thank you for the explanatory example, Mr. Harrison!

@@georgeeharrison4293 Since in my country the FZ300 is significantly cheaper, for me the case is clear. Seldom I would go out for such nightlife shots. And I appreciate the weather sealing of the FZ300. Thanks again for the real world tests! If they updated the FZ300 sensor to a more modern one and equipped the FZ300 with a phase detection autofocus ... but I guess they need to keep a gap to the premium models.

I'm personally trying to decide between the FZ300 and the FZ1000 Mk2. In the video, it appears that the highlights are more easily blown with the FZ300 vs the 1000Mk2. Color is warmer out of the camera with the FZ300. Choices, choices: older camera with more zoom range and smaller sensor, or newer camera with larger sensor...

Thanks for the reply. Believe it or not, I ended up sending back BOTH the FZ300 and the FZ1000mk2. I was able to compare them side by side for a week. I got the FZ2500 instead and couldn’t be happier. I now have a zoom control AND a focus ring on the lens barrel, allowing it to function more like a traditional ICL camera. The tripod mount is centered on the lens and accessible card and battery slots while on a tripod. I know, I know… everyone says the 2500 is built for video, but it is very capable as a stills camera as well. I used the FZ1000ii to photograph and video a wedding, and it has a 29’59” video length cut off. The 2500 will record as long as it has juice and memory. I continue to love your videos: full of real-life examples and wonderfully presented. Thank you!

In good light, the FZ300 will win and the focus is a litter faster plus you can use the FZ300 in heavy rain for it has very good weather sealing.

Yes! the FZ1000ii is way better in low light than the FZ300. In good light, the FZ300 is a very good camera but using it in a dark room are at night, is not what it was made for.

The upgrades include a touchscreen, post focus function, image auto marking, and focus stacking Pansonic will not say if the sensor and the processer are new, but some people do not think they are. If you have the FZ1000 it might not be worth an upgrade.

In good light, the picture quality is very close But the FZ1000ii will win in detail because it has 20 megapixels while the FZ300 has only 16. Low light is where you can see the different

I have both, but on a lot of days, I would not be able to go out without the weather sealing of the FZ300. The FZ1000ii is better in low light but the FZ300 has faster focus which is something you will need in bird photography.

..By the way, Fz10002 // has a clearer picture! Look at the minute 1.22sec. You can clearly see the difference at the company on the light sign, where it says ANTIQUE .., and below 50% sell .., and at the traffic light, the blue light, respectively the red one (from a distance, 2 red dots).
