Great video George, nicely done. I have FZ300 and I love it. There is always a tradeoff . FZ1000 II has larger 1" sensor, slightly better low light performance. Far as colors and saturation that can be adjusted in camera when shooting Jpeg's . For me FZ300 is better fit...it is 600mm, better than FZ1000 II with 480mm, FZ300 is f/2.8 and the extra stop comes handy, FZ300 is lighter and smaller, FZ300 is weather sealed. Both are great cameras. FZ1000 II is better choice if larger sensor is a absolute must for slightly better ISO performance. FZ300 is good choice if you need camera that do it all, 4K video, weather sealed, long 600mm lens and it is f/2.8. For many years I shot and owned Canon, Nikon, Pentax full frame cameras with long prime lenses 500mm f/4, 400mm f/3.5 ,300mm f/2.8 and I sold most of them , don't get me wrong these setups create some really nice images, but they are heavy (always trade off). In a good light FZ300 does really nice. Up to ISO-400 is still good , after that it start to suffer. FZ300 can't shoot ISO-16,000 like I was using Nikon D4 for shooting owls in low light. I shoot mostly RAW format, it does gives you slightly better image quality. 90% of the time I use FZ300 and only grab my Nikon D2Hs or D3s when higher ISO is needed. Bottom line is , most modern cameras take good images, just enjoy shooting and have fun with it and that is what really matters.

I agree with your assessment. I have owned my FZ300 for a few years, and now that the price is under $500 I may replace my current FZ 300 with a new FZ300. I love constant 2.8 aperture through the entire 25-600 zoom. I have been getting really sharp pictures using back button focus. I have researched mirrorless and other bridge cameras, but have not found anything better than my FZ300. My full frame Nikon D600 never gets used anymore.

@@novice024 Yes, the FZ1000 is sharper. However, considering the FZ300 sensor is so much smaller, it fares pretty close. I am surprised about this result, had expected a starker difference.

This video is making my decision much harder...Everytime I think I can decide on the FZ300 over the Fz1000 Mkii, I see a comparison like this, and the FZ1000 Mkii is the clear winner, at least as concerns color. Thank you for watching. You give up a little with the smaller sensor of the FZ300 but the lens is very sharp, autofocusing is very fast and it is very light. You have no problem carrying it around all day if you want to.

Thank you for this. The FZ1000 II definitely has the edge in detail, color saturation and seems to be more stable when moving. But here in Canada it is $1000 on sale. The 300 is $600. I'm torn. That's a big difference in price. I keep debating the 300 (which I can afford at the moment) or a better cell phone with zoom but my heart is with the 1000. I live in BC and want to capture mountains and ocean with a zoom of some kind but with reasonable clarity.

You can get very good prints up to 32"x60" with the FZ300 and the 4k video and HD video are very good. The battery life is very good along with the weather sealing. If you have it in your budget and looking for a larger sensor weather seal camera the SONY RX10iv is a good choice but a lot more money.

@@j.w.grayson6937 I have found on my FZ1000ii that the autofocus is the most accurate on-spot focus. Face detection can be hit are miss and take at least 3 extra batteries with you. I did a test with the RX10iv and the FZ1000ii and the RX10iv came out a little ahead. I was willing to pay 2 to 3 hundred more for it but not double the price of the FZ1000ii

If you have a choice use the FZ1000 for your b camera in lower light it will match up better with your g85, but you are correct in good light you can not tell the much different between the FZ1000ii and the FZ300. Thank you for watching!

In most cases the pictures from the FZ1000ii appear more vibrant and better focused. I own the FZ 300 and know how to get beautiful pictures and video from the FZ300. I especially like the constant 2.8 zoom throughout the entire 25-600 zoom. This feature is why I have not updated my camera.

I can't really see much of a difference between the two, except the FZ1000 is way too magenta and the FZ300 is just a little bit too green. As far as sharpness goes, I'd like to know at what resolution they were shot. I think the FZ300 uses line skipping when shooting at 1080P, so you get much better results when shooting at 4K and converting to 1080P in the video editor. So if it was shot at 1080P, the FZ300 is able to give even better results that what is shown here. If they were both using 4K, then the playing field is level. Hey there. Thank you for the video! My dad bought the FZ300 about 6 months ago and so far it’s work pretty well. We only shoot action shots out at the track. So weather, and dust are a huge reason why we chose the FZ300. Also with my motocross racing we don’t have a lot of time to switch to different lenses because of possible mechanical issues that we’ll have to attend to in between my Moto’s. We have not really messed with any of the settings. But in your opinion is there any other options we could go with for even better quality without having to give up the sealed style cameras. If you have a moment check out one of my videos to see what I mean. I’d greatly appreciate it.

For a lot less money the FZ2500 are the FZ1000ii you can find them at a very good price' They are not weather sealed like the FZ300 are the RX10iv but you can buy a rain cover for them online, are like I did make your on.

The colors of the FZ1000ii are better straight out of the camera, but a little time in post and the FZ300 can match it. Plus the weather sealing is a great reason to have it. I have takeen it out into some heavy rain and it still works fine.

The weather sealing is the reason I selected a 2nd hand Fujifilm Finepix S1 over the other 2nd hand bridge cameras at the same price range. The S1 was actually a little bit cheaper than a Canon SX50HS with similar specification that I was looking at. Panasonic FZ300 is not that popular in the local market in here and hard to come by. Camera are relatively cheap as newer models come out every year, but repair labor costs has been increased constantly. I have another Canon G7X mark II that is too expensive to repair so I just buy another camera instead. The repair shop cost quotation for the Canon G7X is more than the 2nd hand price of the Fujifilm Finepix S1. For this reason, I like to trade off some of the image quality for a better zoom range over the Canon G7X and weather sealing protection.

Sorry, this reply is so late. The big difference is if you are using the camera internal mic you do not pick up any noise when zooming. Touch screen, Focus stacking, better battery life and4k photo mode is up from 12fps to 30 fps

You will lose some of the zoom range, but for better indoor and night photography go with the new FZ1000ii. The FZ1000 is a very good camera but the biggest complaint I have read is that it makes a lot of noise when zooming that can be picked up on the internal mic

300 shows exactly the same resolution as the larger sensor 1000 IMHO, difference is more in color and lightness, with some advantages for the smaller model. So thanks for showing both night and day scenes.

I own the fz1000 and I have to say that it is definitely a better choice if you want to get those nice clear night shots. I shoot a lot of music videos and being able to have the ability to shoot at night with little to no lighting and not get a whole lot of noise in my footage is a plus. The FZ300 is good but if you want something that can be used and used well in both day and night get the fz1002

By the comparison of the two I can see that the FZ1000 has more colour saturation than the FZ300, though all round the FZ300 wins in sharpness and picture quality probably because of the constant f2.8 of the FZ300, and the colour can be adjusted on the FZ300, I may be a little bias because I own the awesome FZ300, though you can tell by the video the FZ300 wins.
