@Lengry There is no age limit of applying to our programs. The average age of our students are 25 - 35. FZD School welcomes any aspiring designer regardless of their background. All we really look for in a potential student is the strong interest in design, drawing, and the motivation to succeed. At FZD, we have a portfolio submission and review for all applicants. In addition, an interview will be conducted by our staff as a part of the application process. Thank you!

Fundamentals. Excellent tips, sir. Coming from a penciling background, digital drawing came so very easy to me. It's because of that mileage, the countless hours spent trying to represent forms, over and over and over again.

Wow this... this video is amazing. I've learned SO much by just seeing you draw and your posture. It explained everything better than all the different free sources for fundamentals. I'm really glad I stumbled upon this channel, it reignited my love for concept art, design and drawing overall! I may be late into this thing, since I'm in my early twenties already, but hell it's fun! Thank you so much for all the free and amazing content! I'm 21, and I'm interested in becoming a concept artist for games, I am alright at art is it too late for me? What sort of style do I need to have to become a concept artist, do I need to be able to draw comics, manga, or realistically, the latter is probably what I am best at, I am trying to learn how to draw manga and comics (I have tons of books on it) but I am not sure if I am wasting my time on that, is it essential to know these styles to become a concept artist? PLEASE NEED HELD!, thanks in advance.

Start each sketchbook by drawing an abomination in the back with your wrong hand if you're worried about "ruining a sketchbook". Takes all the pressure off and if you doubt yourself, flip to the back page. Only up from there buddy. Then rip out the page when you want.

I'm actually kind of surprised by what you said about only using pens and no pencils, Feng. Because of the shear intricacy of the digital work that you and many other concept artists achieve, I would have figured you use pencil to create erasable guidelines so you can fit tons of tiny details into your works. That's awesome though, I like the boldness of not using an erasable medium. =)

Excellent video! Feng Zhou always packs so much valuable information in these tutorials. Still learning how to make straight lines consistently, it is one of those skills that takes a lot of practice. I have a Wacom I4 tablet - you can use different nibs made of different materials to give different feel (paper like) and the stylus recognises all movement in 3D so if you are using the right brush (pencil if you prefer) it can alter tip size by rotating like a flat sided pencil or flat brush. you can make the setup however you like it. But you're right - it is expensive at first

: ] The answer is in your question, man. There is no best single technique. Use the right tool for the job. Some things may require more control, such as details, while others require freer movement. I tend to start with my whole arm off my work surface for the initial stages, working from the shoulder. Then I rest my elbow when I start to focus in. And when finishing with details I tend to have the base of my palm/pinky side down for more control.

I searched for random rents and for one room they range from 500 up to 1000 SGD. Taking the 800 price which is 650 USD, adding living costs of at least 1000, on a one year period you need at least 60 grands to attend and live there, with emphasis on 'at least'. I know nothing about the prices of transportation, food, clothes etc. I personally wouldn't think of going there without 100.000 USD.

hi feng zhu you said you must learn your traditional foundation, so do I have to learn to paint with acrylics or oil traditionally before doing this digitally. Because my digital doesn't seem to flow like a paint it seems very flat. maybe I should be painting traditionally with color and light ? ty
@BunBunMuzic10 жыл бұрын
Seems like this comes to late, but not you don't need to . Only if you want to get familiar with colour on a early stagt which i don't recommend. Learn the fundamentals ( those are the important rules) after that it's just pracitce, practice, practice, creativity.
@zoraxbrooks9 жыл бұрын
while it doesn't seem necessary so to speak, its always good to try a new medium, especially if is relevant, as it will get you to think in a different way, even if your not really going to use that medium again. after taking sculpture/3d design, it added a whole new perspective to things, once you actually work with something, especially once you get a little experience with it, your mind will start seeing things in relation to it, like when i took watercolor i REALLY started getting how color works, and how much variety there really is within most colors, and how much you can get away with while keeping something recognizable. like a lot of times, as long as the main color of something stays intact(use your own judgement) you can really add whatever colors you want inside of it(first you should experiment to see the effect of certain colors mixing), and it will still register as the same thing, as long as its added in a softer way(like wet into wet).
@IfthiAli8 жыл бұрын
It's not flat because you haven't practiced enough or haven't used enough mediums (oil, acrylic or watercolor). It's because you lack fundamentals, such as perspective, lighting, focal points ect. Learn these first before you create bad habits while you are unguided. I hope this helps.

any CS version will work. In some videos I think he uses CS1 and CS4 or 5 you can get a cheaper version if it's not the newest. Sometimes people focus too much on the software or hardware; like Feng said in this video, basic skills are more important.
