In this video I walk through the procedure for bench bleeding the master cylinder prior to installation. I install the brake booster, master cylinder, and brake pedal assembly. I also create a new brake line to replace an existing line with a kink.

Josh, thanks for sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. Very helpful to others working on these old classics. I have to ask, why are you using a stock master cylinder and booster when your running an aftermarket high performance 4 wheel disc brake setup?

Happy to share my journey. It's actually a cheap disk brake setup. I'm running calipers that I pulled off a Camaro at a Pick-N-Pull. I picked up a disk/disk proportioning valve from Summit Racing, and the rotors/pads are from eBay. I haven't found any consensus that the OE master cylinder doesn't work.

@@CarsandJoshee I just saw the drilled/slotted rotors and assumed (always gets me in trouble) that they were high end discs. I'm still running the factory master cylinder setup on my 87 El Camino and it does just fine. So you should be good for sure.

Curious ..if you gave any thought to the Caprice 12" booster ..i read that they have more assist helping the clamping forces?

I didn’t. Some areas I put a little more focus into than others. For the brakes, I figured going from 10” disk to 12” disk on the front and converting from drum to disk on the rear would be a good start. If I need more brake later, I’ll likely upgrade to c5 and/or a full Wildwood kit with hydroboost.
