Nice to see a mechanical inclined young person doing his own engineering with his mind and fabricating with hands. Point being, the camera is the only computer involved. Gotta love it!

You’ve inspired me to do my 87 gbody Monte Carlo. I’m not as good of a welder as you are and I’m migging it. Just trying to make a slow bracket car a bit safer so it doesn’t really have to certify. It is hard work and at 66 yrs old it’s even harder but it is a bit fun too. I admire your skills and enthusiasm, stay safe and nothing but the best to you!

I have a 85 G body and I’ve watched several of your videos to see some tricks and ideas you’ve done. Your videos and work you do are great, very impressive work. I will be turning my roll Bar into a cage very soon this winter. I love the way your car looks inside with the cage. I’m interested in how you did the dash bar and got the dash board over the A pillar bars and dash bar so nicely like it’s from the factory. Any advice or tricks you could share would be very helpful. Thank you again and very nice work!

On your main hoop mounts, rules says need be on 6 inch plate, an how you mounted yours u had jus 6 inches of plate going one way down frame rail an not a 6 inch square. That pass spec? In the middle of doing my main hoop mounts an curious. Thanks in advance always love watching your videos.

From what I remember the rules say that frame has to be boxed atleast 6" where the roll cage ties into and yes my cage passed and is certified. The 6" square might be for unibody cars. hope this helps!

Yes it does help. I didn't see in book frame needs boxed. My frame is allready boxed so I'm good then, just use the plate as a solid flat mounting spot then. Awesome, thanks for quick reply, keep the videos going

Looking very good! Is you Tig Air or Water cooled?. If it's water cooled, look into using a gas lens You'll be able to get into tighter spots.
@horsepowervsyourwallet97694 жыл бұрын
just air cooled and will do. thanks for the tip!

I see you were tig'n it..is that all chromoly tubing then? Curious to know if you took weight of the car before the cage! Makes me feel like i could build my own cage too.
@horsepowervsyourwallet97696 жыл бұрын
yes its all chromoly tubing. Never weighted the car maybe this summer? pretty sure the shipping weight of the tubing was 200+ pounds. So the cage will add 200 pounds if not alittle under I feel. nothing a couple pounds of boost wont cover up hahaha and go for it just needs lots of patience!
