Georg Friederich Händel is the most glorious composer ever!

My all-time favorite chorus, and the most fun you can have with a choir folder in your hands. Tempo is perfect.

This is a brilliant piece...but quite difficult, though one of my favorites. Fire, Fire, hailstones!

Love the gentleman on the upright bass. Check out his face at around 34-38 seconds, right after what looks to be a challenging section. I think it says, "Dang, I nailed that." Great to see someone so visibly having a great time up there.

Bass players are my favorite. I played string bass for only one year, in 9th grade, when the high school music director recruited me (why?) and taught me whatever he remembered from taking TIM (Techniques in Instrumental Music) in college. The next school I went to drafted me to sing bass (really baritone) in what they called Special Chorus. Thanks, Dad, for inviting me to join you in the local community chorus after my voice changed at age 13. That truly changed my life! This bassist clearly loves what he is doing in this performance - just the way it should be.

Completely agree. I have sung this piece twice with two different conductors, not including choral karaoke (to the recording) and would love to sing it again. After 55 years of choral singing, however, I am about done.

Sang a B9 with Shaw. His instructions to the basses included the immortal words "Bark it out." I thought that was a sensitive direction. But he was a great salesman for choral music and produced a very nice Messiah with small chorus and wonderful soloists: Judy Raskin, Florence Kopleff, Richard Lewis, Thomas Paul.

Lovely, lovely! This is the first time I have heard this with soloists in the chorus "He sent a thick darkness" But wow...... it really works! Is this arrangement in Handel's score?
