Every member represents a strong and powerful female in history. Yuqi is Cruella obviously with the split hair and Shuhua is (according to a lot of people) the Queen of Hearts because of the card that opened up her part in the beginning. You can also see her makeup has heart crystals under her eyes. Because they're both characters from fairy tales, they're paired together. Soyeon and Minnie on the other hand both represent women from Mythology. Soyeon is Athena, you can see her standing in Athena's palm during her rap. Minnie is Medusa because of her hair and laying on the ground as if she was slithering like a serpent. In the scene together they're next to a statue of Poseidon referencing the myth about Medusa and Athena, but instead of the real story, they're "rewriting" it to their liking by destroying the statue and ultimately changing the story. Miyeon is representing Cleopatra looking at her head peace and the way she was laying on the couch thing (and her sitting on a throne on a pyramid). Honestly the whole MV is phenomenal in every aspect. The way they combined each member with their persona is absolutely amazing and genius. The song itself is just a bop.

A lot of people are saying Marie Antoinette for Shuhua, but I like the Queen of Hearts interpretation. Similar to Soyeon and Minnie rewriting the Athena/Medusa myth, Yuqi and Shuhua are rewriting characters who were one-dimensionally evil in the original stories.

Okay so normally I am so with you on the short song syndrome BUT this song gets an exception from me because it’s jam packed. Like, yes, soyeon could have done a longer rap and they could have done the chorus three times but honestly I don’t think this song needs it. It feels so full already. I’m guessing there was a cut of the song that was around 3:15 and then pared it back significantly to give it the highest impact. Also. I kind of feel like this song is them flexing on cube? Like, hi bitches we can do “standard” kpop and do it better than anyone, don’t think your little upcoming boy group will profit from our fans. I can imagine how frustrating it was for IDLE (and poor lightsum!) to see the statement from cube about how they expect their bg to sell 300k albums on debut and get a ton of marketing dollars when IDLE literally did their debut mv overseas in an abandoned warehouse dressed up with blankets and literal trash as their props… Anyways, that’s a rant, but I do think there is a reason it’s short and high impact.

I personally don't see any problems with the new BG having a good promotion. Cube need to prepare themselves in case of (G)I-dle not renewing with them. Also having another strong group in the company can't be detrimental to (G)I-dle if they decide to stay with cube. It could even release some pressure on (g)I-dle shoulders knowing that they are not alone to pay the gas.
