Happy 40th Anniversary to G.I. Joe!
Disclaimer: In all technicality, G.I. Joe the brand was launched in February of 1964 by Hasbro in the form 12 inch army soldier action figures.
However, nearly two decades later, the G.I. Joe brand as a whole was entirely restarted and reimagined from the ground up by Hasbro.
And so, on September 12th, 1983, the first episode of "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" aired to go with a new toyline, introducing the world to the all new, reimagined G.I. Joe in television form.
This new G.I. Joe introduced us all to the concept of G.I. Joe Vs Cobra, along with all the now infamous characters that came along with it, such as Duke Hauser, Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, Destro, Scarlett, Zartan, and on and on.
September 12th 1983 was the day that G.I. Joe reintroduced itself on television as the G.I. Joe we all know and love today. That's what this video is commemorating, the 40 Year Anniversary of G.I. Joe's screen debut.
Thank you all for stopping by, this video took alot of effort. More than it seems, I'm sure. I really tried my best to make sure every character got some spotlight, but there's no way I could give all of then enough attention with the limited time I have.
A word about the music video portion of this. The song being used is of course the opening song from G.I. Joe: The Movie. You may however notice that some of the movie audio is in there. This is because there is literally no version of the song available without the movie audio. I searched and searched, yet it simply just doesn't exist. The best I found was a Cobra theme, an extended version of the Cobra verses from their song, forming a song of their own, and a version of the song that's just instrumental. I kind of Frankensteined (?) it all together to get rid of the most movie audio possible, and the end result is what is featured in this video. And yes, this is practically the same version of the song I created for the G.I. Joe: Retaliation 10 Year Anniversary video.
