Nothing is going to be 100% accurate or truthful. I am not a plastic connoisseur, I know there is time to cure if that makes sense. I’m just wondering with the increase in figures if this is playing a role, nonetheless there must be a change. Another possible concern would be if these weapons are made ahead of time, which could take time to correct. The weapons are crap compared to prior years as you have pointed out. There is always the secondary market, however the costs are not cheap. I believe they will correct it, we will just have to wait and see. They are not going to risk the chance of losing more collectors. All in all thanks for all of your videos and unboxing you and your son are true fans..

It seems like the gummy weapons didn't start to become a problem until after "plastic-free" packaging was implemented. So I believe it was yet another lowered QC issue that Hasbro believed they could sneak past collectors when all the figures were sealed away inside windowless boxes.

Okay, guys! I'm not up to date with current announcements by Hasbro, so this news of their addressing the soft/warped accessories is great. A friend and I have a theory that this problem occurs when the company groups up pieces in the same mold "plate" that should not be made of the same plastics. Example: Retro collection Storm Shadow's black belt and across the chest belt/arrow quiver should be soft, and SS's swords and other weapons are intended to be rigid. However, a decision was made to group up all these pieces in the same parts mold or mold "plate."

Hey there Liam & Dex, I want to say that I bought the 3.75 inch figure of Chuckles either before or after G.I. Joe: The Movie came out in '87 & I enjoyed having him with my Jinx, Lt. Falcon & Tunnel Rat figures, but the weirdest thing that I noticed about my Chuckles figure was that you can only see his eyes if you put a cowboy hat in his head, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see them. But just like you, I too grew up watching G.I.Joe cartoons in the 80s & I came up with my own stories for my figures back then. And I also enjoyed seeing you guys getting the 6"inch Classified Deluxe figure & he does have the good ole "Miami Vice" Vibe going on(from someone who was originally from there meaning myself). But anyway he does look really cool & maybe sometime down the road I'll be getting him first & then the newer set of the Crimson Twins(Tomax & Xamot & Baroness) in a few months later on. Anyway guys, have yourselves a good & safe weekend too.....Yo Joe!!

Bendy weapons = more gridiron sales. Would rather hasbro not include low quality weapons AND drop price because some collectors will buy alternative (gridiron) higher quality weapons.

I agree with you.. as far as the weapons go.. they don't need a year.. just melt everything thats already manufactured and start over.. oh wait! They cant cause it will cost them more money to do.. so yeah.. they may not want to admit that they do things to lower their cost... But the consumer's aren't stupid..

When hasbro did an anniversary set of 33/4 o ring joes in the late 90s, they too were softer plastic with poor paint apps compared to the original 80s o ring joes. Why can’t they just reissue the 80s o ring series with the same hard plastic. Broken crotches and thumbs be damned

Lifeline Is my Favorite since I was a kid. I liked the Episode where he, Shipwreck, and Dial-Tone were promoted to Coronals and it screwed the whole team up. He and Autobot Ratchet have all been my favorites. Can't wait to hear if they ever release him.

That was so cute! Dex opening stuff is fun. I have the 87 chuckles n like him but I can’t bring myself to pay the exclusive price on this one so hopefully the retro it. I think the biggest part I don’t like of cardboard packaging is the bad n inconsistent art selections. They should have kept the old school art or chose something that unifies the series. Certainly too much plastic on this planet so I was fine with that move, even if it was just corps saving money.

I have a love/hate relationship with the gummy weapons. For placing them in the figures hands for photos they are great since it doesn't feel like I am going to break anyone's hands but once they are in the hands and posed the weapons start to deform then look like crap. I wish there was a way to have hard plastic for the weapon but gummy handles; that is too much to ask for haha.

Chuckles is great. The first figure I shelled out big bucks for and I don’t regret it. The only downside is I think the one I got is a factory defect so it doesn’t stand well on its own but still an awesome figure.

As a former manufacturing engineer I call BS on Hasbro! If it's a safety issue then why doesn't Valaverse and McFarlane have to comply? And as for the 1 year turn around the molds are already made it's simple as changing the material ! Like you guys i love the line, hate the corporate greed

It might be because of the recommended age. Hasbro is at 4 and up. McFarlane is 8 and up.

They clearly lied, but it looks like all companies do/did yet in this new day and age you are going to be called out on everything you do....status quo has changed. Now, going forward they should release past weapons that were very gummy in a "weapons pack" similar to what they did in the 1980s. That would mean more money for them and better weapons for our collection we have already bought.

And if they're worried about the gummy weapons being a liability from some kid poking his eye out?make them adult collectable as they should be!!! I mean look at joe and cobras details does everyone think these action figures are made for a kid in mind? These figures are depicted towards adult collectors that's who buys these by the boat load here!!! Kids will still buy them adult collectable or not, of course hasbro will never do that!!! Back in my corporate days you got used to “half truths”. Hasbro’s gummy weapons for example, yes they do have to meet safety regulations. Yes, some of these regulations mean that plastics have to be soft. However, is that the reason for Joe’s gummy weapons? Most likely not and it’s most likely cost saving. I assume it’s cheaper and logistically efficient to use the same type of plastic as much as possible. I don’t think their PR team lies either, it’s not malice. PR is not given all the facts, they are working with limits too. They have to give the company safe answers. End of the day it’s business and these changes are 100% from less sales, not complaints. Vote with your dollar.

Yes the head/neck pegs should all be the same size, there’s no logical reason for it, they’re a uniform size across the Action Force line and if theirs any reason Hasbro changed it, it’s probably cause they didn’t want it to fit with Action Force, which it used to.

Viper island primary military speciality ; provide better Joes for the fans, and increase their sales and pop influence secondary military speciality ; get the most infos possible and expect the unexpected swapping heads - hands for Joes AND legends is a must for undercover missions, AND get interesting clothes. I ve seen Grunt in a green [prof X ] business suit and he rocked! Hasbro could sell all those suits - civilian dressed figs more by doing this, having 2 purposes. I actually want people who look like civilians - victims - action to add to my dios - stories they have to have grabbing hands though, always, Aunt May can t grab cat droppings... To answer your question: I don’t believe everything they say. These guys have to gate keep company policies. But, if Hasbro is reading comments: just admit the mistake, let the collectors know. Be more transparent, WE as collectors are flipping the bill.

re:gummy weapons - the classfied line shouldnt be 4+. should be 8 plus and that should help remove any issue with offering non bendy weapons.

Wow it’s been awhile since you made a video slamming Hasbro. Seems like the line had really turned itself around in the last year. I had abandoned the line in 2022 but the sculpts and return to a more retro look plus character selections have brought me back to the line and now I am all-in. So it’s almost like Hasbro succumbed to fan expectations and started giving us what we always wanted and Viper Island has had nothing but high praise lately. I thought maybe the design team were going out of their way to please Viper Island. You and Dex have been much more positive and optimistic about the line overall.

@@CowleyStudentJ I cannot comment on figure swapping. I never experienced it from purchases on Hasbro Pulse, Amazon, or my local retail stores. I can definitely see that as a legitimate frustration. But I think that is more due to the actions of bad collectors than the manufacturer's fault.

The 4+ age-rating allows the line to be placed in toy aisles alongside other lines which all have the same rating. The rating isn't why the weapons suddenly went soft & gummy.

Idk man, I'm in Canada as well and that Chuckles was available on Pulse for like 2 and half days. I'm Long enough to cancel my order lol. The only one I had issues with was Mindbender but ended up getting him when he became available on Pulse a second time.

Both Lenny and Emily addressed this about the weapons. They told us they have brought up the issue with the factories several times. Plus, they have to adhere to a certain standard due to the age limit on the figures. Emily said the plastic cannot be too hard as it causes sharp edges if something were to break or snap off. They are trying to reach a compromise and it has to be put in place, hence why we will not see the change until 2025.

Guys they said the safety issue is because they have an age rating of 4 and up. So change the rating to 10 or 12 and up. No parent is buying these for there 4 year old anyway let's be honest !!!

It doesn't work like that. The 4+ age-rating isn't meant to be taken literally - it allows the line to be placed in toy aisles alongside other lines with similar ratings. The rating was an excuse that many blindly accepted as truth - it does not explain why the plastic suddenly changed in mid-2022. The issue didn't exist in 2020, 2021, or the first half of 2022 when the line still had a 4+ rating.
