G&L ASAT Bass Setup & Intonation

I have a 90’s swamp ash ASAT bass that weighs 11.5 lbs. If you notice, they use thicker body wood on the ASAT compared to a standard Fender-style bass. This is most evident at the neck heel. One theory is they select heavier slabs, and thicker wood for the ASAT basses, as the extra weight counteracts a tendency to neck-dive with the bass body having no upper horn. Tom Hamilton plays an ASAT bass with a lightweight pine body, but has an extension on the upper strap button, likely to counter act neck dive on his lightweight ASAT. Great sounding basses, with huge output and a nice mid-range-rich tone, but not for people looking for a lightweight bass.

10 pounds? Light weight. My T-40 is at least 14.
