Sweetwater Sales Engineer Ben Jimenez presents the G&L Custom Shop L-2000 bass.
In 1980, Leo Fender - who invented the electric bass guitar three decades before and had been honing his designs ever since - set out to build an even better bass. The G&L L-2000 benefited from everything Leo knew about the electric bass. Today’s G&L Custom Shop L-2000 bass embodies not only Leo’s considerable insight on the subject, but also decades of modern refinements, the very finest tonewoods and components, and meticulously handcrafted construction by G&L’s world-class luthiers at the Fullerton Custom Shop.

Sweetwater active, series, both pickups

Parallel passive both PUs sounds organic and delightful. Series is too muddy and active preamp doesn’t add much just slight volume boost.

I just ordered the Tribute model of this from y'all, and I'm glad you made this video. I'm so stoked about this bass.

The Series/Parallel switch is for the coils of each pickup being in Series or Parallel to each other, not the entire pickups being in Series or Parallel to each other, as one would modify a Jazz bass with. The pickups will always be in Parallel to each other.

Correct, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to select pickups in series mode.

Great video! Commentary from a true bassist is how a review should be. I have the tribute 5str version and now want the custom shop!

This demo sold me on the bass. Just bought it! It’s hard to buy a high-end instrument without touching it, but this demo really helped me see how it sounds in all the different settings. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to get my hands on it when it arrives in a few days... 🤘🏼👏🏼

It’s an amazing bass. Lots of tones you can get with it, and it plays smoothly. Super low action without any buzz. It’s loud! And it’s even more beautiful in person. If you the chance to get one, I highly recommend it!

Hi there - do you still have the bass? Thoughts now? Have you got any others since? thanks :)

@@Crushin123I do! And I still love it. I have several other basses, so I rotate through them for different songs/venues. One of my other basses is a G&L jazz bass, which is also fantastic! The G&L basses hold their tune really well, are light, sound awesome, and in the case of this one, lots of tone options. The pickups on this bass are pretty hot and can crank out some serious sound. It’s comfortable to play as well. Love the roasted maple neck!

which is the differences between CLF RESEARCH L•2000 and L•2000??
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Efthimis! The CLF Research L2000 is made in the USA, whereas the Tribute L2000 is made overseas. There are also minor differences in appointments, and the overall quality will be better with the USA model. Thanks for the interest! I own both an L-2000 and an L-2500, both from the tribute line (made in Indonesia, but exact same electronics as the american models) and ever since I first got the L-2500 years ago, every single bass from any other manufacturer just sounds dull and lifeless in comparison. The MFD pickups are hands down the best pickups on the market, imo. Only Nordstrands stand a chance.

Isn't it better to just pay a bit more for an american made g&l?

@@leavewe probably. But since I live in Europe we don't really have access to american made G&L's. At least not for a reasonable price.

You can look all these things up. Also, I don't know about you, but I'd rather hear the bass than his playing, which was just fine.
