This is a Mass for Choir accompanied by 2 Pianos & a Reed Organ, that is the least number of instruments I've ever heard to accompany a Choir. He did make an Orchestral version which is great for a bigger concert hall

It's nice to hear this piece in the original arrangement, for two pianos, a harmonium, four soloists and a small chorus. Rossini originally envisioned just twelve singers: the four soloists, and two each of sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses. The tenor part is particularly difficult to sing, both for the soloist, and even more for the tenor chorus. I sang in the tenor chorus, when we performed this way back in High School around 1967. I'm naturally a baritone, so there was a lot of screeching the Cum Sancto Spiritu, and other passages, where the tenors sing at high F or above, for what seems like forever. I also took a stab at playing the Preludio Religioso much later in life. I was never good at the piano, and in this case, was defeated by the difficult key and the many double sharps. Thank God that there are great performances of all kinds that we can enjoy for free on KZbin! And, special thanks to the Teatro Comunale Claudio Abbado in Ferrara, Italy for performing and posting this.

A trick is to slow the tempo down a bit then gradually speed it back up to the Original

@@jean-lucmanzi2624 Actually it's Harmonium. The Accordion is a smaller version that you can play standing up.

come realizzare una solennità "fatta in casa" , con pochi mezzi (o ingredienti...) sapientemente combinati intorno al piatto forte: il pianoforte come percussione... genio unico della cucina e della musica

Interested to hear this performance Rather out of tune harmonium! I was appalled that the pianists who had played solidly for one and a half hours had no special acknowledgement or applause and even had to play an encore This is a soloistic first piano part and should be recognised as such The singers and conductor took all the bows the pianists weren't even asked to stand up at the end Not many concertos are an hour and a half long!

Actually, the three keyboard-players were all introduced for a bow by the conductor, after the main performance had ended (but before the encore). Admittedly, the lead pianist was off-camera but it is safe to assume that he also took a bow! (The conductor also re-introduced them between the two encores.)

Лиза Рублева ciao no non la trovo scadente assolutamente ma con uno studio più approfondito si sarebbe raggiunto un livello più alto in termini di omogeneità tra le sezioni che a volte sembrano un po’ scollate nel complesso comunque un bel lavoro del coro qualche sbavatura dei solisti e strumenti non perfettamente in ensamble
