Mozart wrote the Soprano part in this mass for his new wife Constanze Weber, and she sang it at the 1783 premier of the piece in Salzburg. Yes, Mozart was married to a singer. That likely helped him write his later operas.

@@SuperArkleo I'm sorry, I like your interpretation, but there are several excellent Mozart songs, however nothing compares to Bach. Mozart had everything in his hands (not everything), whereas Bach only had the basics up to .Today Bach is one of the most advanced relics of the piano. @p384 Surely, Beethoven knowing about this divine work by Mozart, had created his own "Missa Solemnis" which , indeed, is the hallmark of all religious music ever written.Incidentallly, I heared both with J.E.Gardiner conducting. Gardiner is magisian in the class by itself.

@@dervogelmann1125Bach was underappreciated in his own time, and he still is today, no doubt... But, it's funny how "Bach's greatest hits" ("Jesu joy of man's desiring", "Wachet Auf", "Christmas Oratorio", etc) are all derived from older Lutheran hymns, which in turn were derived from Gregorian chant... A very fine performance of "Et incarnatus est". What a pleasure to see a beautiful young woman singing in such a relaxed manner. Her dress (which is also beautiful), her exposed shoulders, and her jewelry all might reveal the tensions and entanglements of a lesser artist, but this soprano seemed completely relaxed in throat and shoulders throughout. And the sound was beautiful and consistent throughout. Also I've long been a fan of Ann Hallenberg, and deeply regret not seeing her live in any of her rare US performances. I don't know this tenor, but I shall look him up, because i like him. And everyone knows Peter Mattei as a very fine singer indeed.
