That's pretty much the same as the episode where the Autobots are temporarily turned evil, including Optimus, then when he is turned back to normal, Optimus gives Bumblebee a certified Dad hug. It's a an interesting subtlety to notice, that I think was completely intentional. Bumblebee and Spike were intended to be the characters the little kids watching Transformers could project themselves into. Spike fills the role of "He's a human being like you," the same way Robin was meant to represent "He's a kid like you" while he's helping Batman. While Bumblebee is never characterized in G1 as being the cybertronian equivalent of a child, in-universe he is just as much an experienced soldier as the other bots, his "child-like" size allows him to fill that role for the kids watching. They can see Bumblebee among all the other bigger bots and relate to that through their own experiences with adults and older siblings. And it is an important role to have, as one can see the difference in the later Transformers shows that largely do not have a character like this. Especially in Optimus Prime. A lot of the reason kids from that generation have such strong feelings toward Optimus Prime as a father-figure, are because that is how he interacts with Bumblebee (and the other Autobots), the same way a kind father would. How many kids watching Transformers had a father who never hugged them but were able to feel comforted seeing Optimus hug Bumblebee?

I mean, he ain’t considered one of the mini-bots for no reason. For all the scaling issues this show features in the animation this is arguably probably one of the most accurate depictions of Bee next to other bots
