An infinitely scaling champ shouldn't have lots of tools. He deals physical, magic and true damage so it's very difficult to itemize against him. He has a dash, burn, execution and he deals AoE damage. His design is so OP. I think Aurelion Sol is also OP. I don't know why they designed these infinitely scaling champs who deals lots of AoE damage. These two champs only need to play carefully early game and farm until they dominate the game. Veigar is an infinitely champ but he doesn't have many tools, unlike the infinitely scaling dragons

that macro plays at the end from caps and mikyx was a bit weird; i know smolder was strong but i think G2 had a really powerful teamfight in this game.

Looking for some sort of outmaneuvering/backdoor play was really their only option (not to mention that it probably would've worked if Smolder's TP got stopped). G2's comp could never win an honest fight against HLE's. Lillia needs to play slowly on the edge of fights, Varus is the only backline DPS threat, and Yone needs to either play like Lillia or be a diving assassin. Adding in Poppy solidifies that G2's comp is strong in either drawn-out, mid-range skirmishes or quick picks. Unfortunately, HLE's champions make it impossible to play for the former and extremely difficult to capitalize on the latter. Sejuani/Braum have the tools to check Lillia and Yone as they run around, while the double backline threat of Ashe + Smolder will always out-DPS Varus. This leaves G2 with finding flanks and diving onto the carries as their only options, which they have Rell to help achieve. The problem is that, not only are picks not good enough unless you get the Smolder, but Ashe is still there as a backup carry even if you do. And if you commit to the dive, Braum and Sejuani can easily switch priorities to defending their backline against the sole dive threat of Yone. And if Yone can't catch Smolder separated from Braum and delete him, G2 is going to get run down by permanent slows, repeated stuns, and low-cooldown nukes. G2 needed to win early so they could control vision and enable these dive scenarios, but Mikyx whiffed an engage at 14 minutes and subsequently donated the Herald, which HLE used to break open mid lane. From that point on, G2's comp was functionally shut off. It's extremely impressive that they were able to find so many clutch plays to work around this disadvantage, but early map control was so integral to the comp's ability to function that all they could really do was tread water once mid fell. As soon as Smolder got too tanky for Yone to 1-shot, G2 was out of miracles.

G2 were given a way back in by HLE after their poor early game, however vs any other champ but Smolder it seemed like G2 would've won that won in the end. Someone said 'Playing vs Smolder is like playing vs this clock in chess', and I agree with that a lot. It's not as though in LoL champions take 40 minutes and a complicated strategy to scale, it's very fast compared to DOTA scalers for example and often not difficult to get them in their scaled states. It doesn't feel good to watch games with or play versus that champion.
