Heya Andrew. I'm finally getting caught up on my favourite creator's videos and you are at the top of my short list! Thank you so much for doing this superb video! It is very re-assuring for me because each year around my birthday I do a solo, mostly rail trail Ontario birthday ride. Last year, I rode up the TH&B, staying at Brant Conservation area (Brantford) up through Paris, to Cambridge, overnighting again on the way at Pinehurst Lake Conservation area. This excellent video encourgages me for this year's event: my wife and I will camp at Point Farms Prov Park, then I will solo ride from Goderich to Guelph where she will rescue me. I love the Apples From Ancestors along the way concept! Always have, since stopping at apple trees along the Bruce Trail with my parents hiking as a kid. I'm an introvert too and need my alone time and the rail trails ensure that I can take care of my mental health without the stress and worry of car traffic. Thanks for being there, making these inspirational videos and encouraging me with them so I can venture farther afield! I really appreciate the care that goes into them and feel, even though we haven't met in person, that we are kindred spirits and would be good friends, were we to meet on the trails. Deep gratitude and respect, Geoffrey

The lush growth along that stretch of the G2G is a huge plus, but the trail being an almost straight line for such a distance is a disincentive for me. You certainly enjoyed that, and it was a joy to watch.

Nice to see another Brit riding the G2G trial. I ride (mostly solo) segments of it pretty frequently and enjoy it immensely for all the reason you mentioned.

The G2G trail is on my to do list for sure. I also enjoy riding solo. I never wear ear buds on road or trail. But I do have some small bluetooth speakers that fit nicely into the side pouches of my Arkel handlebar bag. I can enjoy the peace of just riding but at times find the music helps the kms pass quicker and keeps me motivated. Stay safe out there sir, new sub here.

I agree with your comments on riding solo. I like meeting up with people at stops but riding by yourself is a mental vacation, plus you get to stop when/where you want, go at your own pace, and explore off route if something looks interesting. Solitary cycling is what i prefer for those reasons.

A mental vacation is such a fantastic way to put it.

I just rode Milverton to Goderich the other day following a ride to Milverton from my place, also solo. The entire ride was enjoyable, with the exception being "Hill's Road" which was miserable. I'm hoping to do all of the G2G sometime soon!

That looked like a great place to ride. At one time 2 of my sons used to race/ride as well. We'd enjoy a Sunday morning ride with no expectations but just to get some kilometres in our legs. I was pretty fit then so there was no problem with the pace. Fast forward 15 years, the sons are not conveniently close to me and most of my riding is alone. With cardiac issues and a tendency to get some tachycardia I prefer my own pace. Sometimes and ideal riding partner is hard to find.

I am glad you have created a riding situation where you can take care and be mindful of your cardiac issues.

Solo rider here for all the reasons you mentioned. In my dream scenario, I would socialize with people before a ride and after the ride. but the ride should be solo. Hasn't happened yet but I am hopeful.

Glad I ran across your channel as I do many Rail Trails in Ontario, and you covered a lot I have done. I love riding and listening to nature but sometimes the boredom of riding gravel railbeds require a headphone in. :) .

I am not really sure what I think of, but time just seems to fly by and I never wear headphones. I used to for running, but for some reason I manage without them on the bike.

I personally don't know of any. I am wondering if @teeterboy3 knows of any.
@teeterboy34 ай бұрын
Really depends on what you mean by camping. There’s plenty of spots that for sure will have room for a tent. But there’s always the Blyth Trailway Cabins and other B&B spots along the way.

I am the same, I much prefer a solo ride as pace and breaks are on me. I have done many small group, rides and enjoyed the company and experience but solo for me needs to be the majority. On a separate note, how is the insta working out? I bought one and my laptop crashes when I try to edit a larger file. Very frustrating!! Cheers Bob...
@cardiaccyclist74775 ай бұрын
The insta is great. I open my clips on the app and edit on my phone. It works fine for the limited type of shots I use, but I don't think it would work so well if I wanted to continually change the perspective of the camera.

Is there a part of this trail that’s primarily gravel without road detours bc of bridge work?
@cardiaccyclist74774 ай бұрын
It is a 132 KM trail the vast majority of which is rail trail. You can check it out on Ride with GPS or Trail forks.
