Glad the piranhas didn’t attack while you were crossing the Maitland. Looks like you had a good time reaching your goal.

I have become bored of pedalling the Cambridge to Paris rail-trail so I'm looking for a few new rides. I think I will make your trip a two-day trip starting from Cambridge next summer. Too bad the tracks from Cambridge [Hespler} never hooked up with Guelph. I ride just under 30 miles a day during the summer. One day tested myself by heading south towards Port Dover thinking I would sleep overnight somewhere. I enjoyed pushing myself and after resting in Dover for about two hrs I turned towards home and made it. 12 hrs solid pedalling with a 2 hr nap on the beach/shade. It's really rewarded to see what you are made of even if only once. The trails give me peace of mind from the traffic found elsewhere. I'm super grateful of our trails and doubt I would ride without using them. I enjoyed you video for obvious reasons and will likely use it as a model for those few little jogs in the trail you realized. Thx for that.

@@banalpedant41 That's funny, I actually live in Hespeler. I've never actually tried the Cambridge to Paris rail trail, but I think in the spring I'm going to have a look at it. Regarding the trip to Goderich, overall it's a great ride, very flat and quite scenic. I don't think I would want to do the return trip on day 2 though, perhaps there are people fitter than I that would do that though haha. After a couple of summers of missing doing the G2G a second time, I'm fairly certain I'll give it another go this coming summer. The one thing I'll say regarding G2G is, if possible, time your ride for a month of little rainfall (if that's even possible) and it'll make the river crossing possible. Much rain at all and I've heard it's impassable and requires a long detour.

@@tokyosteve1223 I ride to Paris daily during the summer. IMO beyond Paris it gets real good in terms of trail conditions. From Brantford to Simcoe is now asphalt. I happened to pedal into a light wind but rode a super strong wind all the way home. I'm a glider pilot so understand/concern myself with the conditions likely a little too much. lol I'm retired and always ride alone. I'm not fast but I' steady. lol Thank you for the tips. I'm already planing the route. I have no car so every trip I ride I leave from the house. I really like the idea of getting my ass as far away from home as I can by my bike. It never seems to get old with me. lol

@banalpedant41 Maybe I'll hit you up to join on a Paris ride next summer. I really don't even know where it begins.

@@tokyosteve1223 Ok, as soon as the weather is reasonable I'm out. I leave before sun rises though. lol The trail basically follows the river so just look on google earth near Myers rd and the Brantford highway. Its likely the best trail for staying out of the sun that I have found.

How did you guys get back to Guelph?

That's funny, you're the first person to ask that 😂 We had no idea what to expect, I'd read some forums and watched some other videos. The official plan was that we'd ride back the next day. However the temperature was 35+ and we were absolutely destroyed when we arrived. We called for a rescue mission to drive us back after a night of beers and stories about the day 😅😂. I still call it a win haha
