So if player is refusing to load/eject/play discs and I follow this procedure to open it up, am I likely to find a jam that I can just clear out by removing all the discs and then re-assembling the player, or is it likely something is broken? Right now if I try and eject a CD it just says something like "EJECT CD1" and doesn't do anything - no motor sounds from the load/eject mechanism or anything. I hit a big pothole in the road while it was changing discs and I think that's what caused my current problem.

It's certainly worth a shot - so long as you're careful you won't break anything.

Mine is doing the same thing. But there was an electrical burning smell, so I figured that my CD player is toast. I was told that with the 2005 G35 you can't even get access to the stereo unit without moving the AC vents and getting a new installation kit that costs a lot ... something like $150.

Hal Dunn You were told wrong. 03-04 need removal of the vents, but 05-06 don't. I've got a full video of removal of the 05+ radio in my channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXm1eoeInsSaf6s The installation kit, yes, the cheap Metra kit starts at $150, but to get an OEM one, you're looking at over $300.

We need a video like this for the navigation. My disc will not eject

The changer doesn't separate from the headunit, you just take the headunit removed from the dash and follow the procedure from this video.

i was able to get my headunit out of my dash but my only problem now is removing the changer from its whole. would you have a video for that?
@Wrathernaut12 жыл бұрын
If you've taken out every screw, it just takes a little prying to get off. Just follow the vid.

After the repair, did you continue gets CD's stuck or did this cure future problems?

By the way will this work on 2004 OEM?
@Wrathernaut10 жыл бұрын
I've never tried disassembling a 2004 unit, so I can't say for certain, so just be careful in taking the covers off, and if it looks similar, follow the video. If it's completely different, you're on your own if you keep going.

@1000mrkc There's six common problems with the G35 headunits, and only putting in an aftermarket unit will fix all of them. This may have an effect on the mechanical disc failures, and you might even be able to clean up the lens to fix read errors, but these factory headunits are such garbage that there's no point in keeping them. Some places can fix the problems as they come up for $150 or so, but that'll only fix 1-2 of the common problems, so it's throwing good money after bad.
