Just what the doctor ordered! I have the same pellet stove and the igniting became unpredictable. Yesterday it would not ignite at all. Found your video! You showed me how simple it would be to replace the igniter and I ordered the part through Amazon today! Your comment about starting the pellet stove without the igniter work ing reminded me of how I used to start an older stove: soak some pellets in a close-able container with enough denatured alcohol (not "explosive" at all) to "soak" the pellets. Then when I needed to restart my pellet stove I would start the stove in the "manual" mode, drop in enough soaked pellets, drop in a match, leave the pellet stove front glass door open just enough to give sufficient oxygen until they begin to burn and then slowly close the stove door and allow the internal fans to take over the task! Works for me in a pinch now that I must wait 10 days to get the part and we are still in winter here in central Oregon.

Haha glad to hear! Yeah we got pretty good at self lighting this stove with lighter fluid and leaving the door cracked as well. Waiting on shipping for this seems to take a long time when manually lighting a stove. Ours is vacuum controlled though so that needs to be adjusted so it doesn't sense the door is open otherwise it won't feed pellets.

After igniter went out, turn on stove and light up pellets with a propane fuel bottle. Got my igniter replaced.

As to Captn Jack's response below: I had the same issue with having to remove the auger motor, witch is difficult. I made a fix as follows, heat and bend the tube that holds the igniter enough so the igniter will come out without hitting the motor. This won't hurt anything because the tip of the igniter will still be in the same place needed to light the pellets. To do this I used a propane torch with Mapp gas, this puts more heat than propane, heat the base of the tube to red then wack the end of the tube with a rod and hammer to bend it just enough as needed.Don't wack the very end of the tube or the clamps wont go back in. And BTW the igniter is available directly from the mfg. Hope this helps somebody

Just to also let people know I have a castle stove also. I had to replace the igniter just the other day Nov.1st 2020 also but mine would not come out as yours did I had to remove the left side and the lower back panel then remove the auger motor screws with lock nuts on the top of the holding bracket and loosen the jam screw from the auger. Then you can take the igniter out to replace it. All in all, it took around 45 minutes. And no you don't have to remove any pellets.

Huh, we have the same pellet stove, bought a few years ago when they first came out. Our igniter when out last year, bought a new one and when attempting to install found that the auger motor was completely in the way. Saw this posted and looked again today, it looks like your motor is different. Smaller, or offset to right more or something. Ours is gray/silver and yours is black. The igniter wont slip past the motor like yours. Seems like removing the motor is an easy job, looks like they may have corrected that design flaw with your model!
@g3mccotter6 жыл бұрын
Yeah could be. I thought this was the oldest generation maybe not though? Maybe this is a generation before yours.

Did you disconnect the door sensor so it can't detect if the door is open? Or did you have to buy a new senor that wouldn't detect a open door? Your REPLY would be greatly appreciated
@g3mccotter5 жыл бұрын
I actually turned the knob on the side of it that adjust the sensitivity of the door sensor. It's a very small knob on the right side of the stove you can see when you remove the side cover.

I've had one of these for a few years. Just having issues now. How do you 'manually' light it? Thanks
@g3mccotter2 жыл бұрын
Lighter fluid and a lighter. Have to adjust vacuum line so it doesn't sense your door is open or it won't feed. It's a balance of opening slightly and closing.

@g3mccotter4 жыл бұрын
Could be a vacuum leak. In the manual it says what the symbols mean. We had to adjust the sensitivity to our vacuum with a little dial on the right side behind the panel of you're looking at it from the front. Customer service is really good also you can call them they'll walk you through it.

I replaced my starter about a year ago (thank you for the video) and today it seems to need replacement again. Has anyone else had issues with having to continuously replace the starter? I was told there is a more expensive starter from the manufacturer that works better but I cannot find how to order.

I just got ours going but I found when on thermostatic mode and with the indoor air temperature above the set temperature it still burns very hot. Even if I put the setting on its lowest number which is 61deg , the house will be in the 80s and it still cranking out heat.. Any others gave the same issue??
@g3mccotter4 жыл бұрын
Good problem to have it works too well. Yeah basically to keep it lit it has to burn a certain amount of pellets so you just have to shut it off. If you must have it on you can change your exhaust fan speed to high and blower fan speed to low. This is the least efficient way to run it since you're blowing more hot air outside. We would do opposite of that and have exhaust all the way lower and blower high and then just cycle it on and off every hour or so depending on temperature.
@FungusAmungus-fl8iy4 жыл бұрын
Yes! I have this exact problem. It just keeps going burning hotter and hotter until I have to shut it off. It's feeding pellets too quickly, the auger doesn't slow the feed like it should. There's no point in buying a pellet stove with temp settings if it completely disregards those settings!
@artnmillworkcapt53033 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by "just cycle it on and off"? Does the control board have the function to run the power on and off?, if so, does it work all right to ignite, burn, and then stop burning by power off? Or, does it cycle with controlled turn off procedure? If power on off makes this cycle, I doubt if it is right way to control, as the remaining heat is there, which should be blown out until it gets cool.Please explain 'how cycle it on and off' - can it be set by control board, timing as you want: every hour, or once in two hour, or once in 5 hours?

@g3mccotter3 жыл бұрын
Lighter fluid cracking the front door until it's lit. It's difficult since it will keep feeding pellets so you have to stay on top of it so it doesn't smother until you can close the front door. If it starts to smother you have to stop and restart by emptying the basket.
