The most impressive thing I saw in this video is the way Miyamoto handled that watermelon while playing Super Mario Sunshine.

Really lost respect for this mini biography when they were showing the super Mario all stars versions instead of the originals super Mario game and they showed kid wrong Zelda. Kinda feel like they didn't really know too much lol

This is exactly what I was going to comment. I suppose I can forgive them showing the All Starts SMB, as it just sort of looks nicer, but if you're going to to talk about the creation of The Legend of Zelda, show that game--not it's black sheep sequel. Make no sense. Who edited this?

frozenaorta the edition is really awful. I'm watching sequenced since ep 1. In the activision ep the edition started to be a lil frantic. But this one...is all over the place. I cannot finish watch these ep. :~

If you are gonna make a documentary, do it right. I'm surprised these 'gamers' at G4 didn't know what the NES footage of Super Mario Bros. looked like. It's only the most famous videogame of all time.

On one side, we have George Lucas who happens to be a legend in the film industry, mainly known for the creator Star Wars but other movie gems as well. On the other end, we got Shigeru Miyamoto who happens to be a legend in the video game industry, mainly known for creating classic titles+franchises such as Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Pikmin, and Animal Crossing. They obviously admire each others work and had the privilege to chat with one another.

Nah! I disagree with some of you folks about that part @ 11:05-11:23 for thinking it was a bit awkward. It's merely one of those honorable moments when a creative genius recognizes and respects a fellow creative genius in the entertainment business. In this case, G. Lucas greeting S. Miyamoto. These are 2 brilliant minds, especially Mr. Miyamoto of course since his career has been far more prolific and profoundly impacting from creating many of the most iconic titles/series in any medium.

So they are talking about 1982 and arcades taking a hit. Then they say that changed with the debut of the Atari VCS? IT CAME OUT IN 1977!!! Talk about lack of research. Atari was killed by the video game crash in 83. The crash was the reason for the retailers not wanting to sell video games until the VCS came out. This episode is so full of bullshit. They talk like the Atari VCS/2600 were close to eachother in release dates. They were 8 years apart. Fuck, someone with average video game knowledge knows this shit. They also skipped Mario Bros. which was the first exposure people and to Mario in the arcades.

For the record, I wasn't offended at all. I was just stating that I disagreed with the notion like some folks here commenting like MetaRidley06 who thinks Shiggy was probably harassed in a creepy physical way by Lucas in case if that was what you were implying. Anyways, don't worry. It's all gooood!

did miyamoto call zelda an rpg?
@aussieman1234
@aussieman1234 9 жыл бұрын
That's the genre Zelda is in you idiot. RPG: Role Playing Game
@goddessmodel
@goddessmodel 9 жыл бұрын
***** i know but officially it isnt considered an rpg because it didnt stem from dungeons and dragons
@aussieman1234
@aussieman1234 9 жыл бұрын
goddessmodel Uh no that's not what RPG means in video games, it doesn't have to "stem from dungeons and dragons" to be an RPG. Final Fantasy is in the genre of RPG, more specifically turn based JRPG. Knights of the Old Republic (and pretty much a lot of MMORPG's) is a dice role combat adventure RPG. Mass Effect is an Action shooter RPG. Fable is classed as an Action adventure RPG and so too is the Legend of Zelda. These are just a few examples off the top of my head RPG does not have to entail Elves, Dragons and the creation of a custom character like Dragon Age or The Elder Scrolls. It does have to fall under certain categories for it to be classed as an RPG for example levelling up or the management and control of player character skills or even the changing/upgrading of armour and weapons. Again these are a few examples off the top of my head. I don't know where you got this idea that an RPG is not "officially considered" an RPG unless it "stems from dungeons and dragons". But whoever gave you that idea was an idiot.

***** the rageaholic said that in an episode of the hate bit podcast and ff as well as ALL jrpgs stem from dragon quest which stems from early western rpgs which is based on d&d but me personally i didnt mean to sound like i myself firmly define zelda as an rpg i wasnt trying to correct miyamoto just bringing it up
@aussieman1234
@aussieman1234 9 жыл бұрын
goddessmodel "but officially it isnt considered an rpg" - "firmly define zelda as an rpg i wasnt trying to correct miyamoto just bringing it up" I'd say that's a contradiction in your comment. You might want to watch what you type. If you really want to go far back and talk about what things stem from, D&D is based on Tolkien's Middle Earth universe, but that's not what we're talking about here Again, RPG's *do not* have to be based on Dungeons and Dragons, D&D is a theme to base a game around yes, but that would be considered High Fantasy genre. RPG as a video game genre is not the same as the "D&D role playing game" as D&D is a turn based choose your own adventure game that is not restricted by the conventions of a video game. Dragon Quest may have influenced many JRPG's but it's the gameplay itself that influenced what was in the other games and made the staple of the RPG genre and what an RPG game is. Earthbound is an example of an RPG that utilises common JRPG mechanics. Again, Zelda is an RPG, but it's also a mix of several genres, Action, Adventure, Puzzle, Platforming (common in more recent 3d titles since Ocarina of Time). Still an RPG though.

@wolfpuffle

I disagree with the way Adrian presents his argument, but I do agree with his message. Assuming you're not a troll, EpicConspiracy, I'd like to point out that Nintendo could lose over $250 Million every year and still survive until 2052. Where as Playstation is in a ton of debt, and Xbox is losing fan base due to the disappointment of the Xbox one. Leaving gamers to switch to a different console. My point being, Nintendo is king, and has triumphed over all else in the past, and no Xcox or Gaystations will stop it.
