My riding buddies and I do this mod on all of our sleds along with a lower riser. What a game changer.

Did mine and love it thanks for all the help and input Bret! The stock post pushes you way to far back. At 6'4 its a must.

Thanks for acknowledging. It's the number one most important upgrade one can do to their G4.

@ridersride1 what riser did you go with?
@ridersride14 жыл бұрын
@@northernmnboondockers8862 i 4in. With the post forward kit the 6in is way to high. With the kit and the 4in = perfection at least for me.

Pretty much the same process. You can even firm the air box with a heat gun.

I have an extra steering post from a non turbo and an extra gen 4 post forward kit. I’m guessing I can make that work on my new turbo sled....
@RideRasmussenStyle4 жыл бұрын
You got that right!
@akkenai417Ай бұрын
Can I install this in the short position on a 25’ summit x/w expert 850 turbo R? The full 2” will be too far forward for me. I just ordered the kit and post but saw this video and you mentioned only the 2” setting could be used for that particular application.
@RideRasmussenStyleАй бұрын
You will have a post interference problem if you try to mount in any position other than B. This doesn't mean you couldn't make it work with a little effort.
@vegardw.h85163 жыл бұрын
Awesome video, Bret. Do you know if there is a kit that converts to vertical steering, like Polaris and Arctic Cat have?
@RideRasmussenStyle3 жыл бұрын
No one offers anything to change to vertical. This kit stands that post up slightly, but only about 1 or 2 degrees. The truth is that this post angle is more ergonomically correct than the true vertical post anyway. It only takes a day to start feeling comfortable with it.
@clevelandjustin4 жыл бұрын
Skinz says they have a new kit for the 850T that doesn't require air box mod but it is going to be significantly higher priced when available. I wonder what the difference will be. I did my '18 and want to do my '21 but don't want to cut it up like I did my '18.
@RideRasmussenStyle4 жыл бұрын
No need to cut open the air box and patch it. Minor training and you're set.

On a 2018 summit sp do you need a different steering post? Is it a good idea if I am a beginner?
@RideRasmussenStyle Жыл бұрын
You would not need to change the steering post. Just get the forward relocate and you'll be set. It's a huge difference. You will appreciate it!

I put the tallest riser ski Doo makes for 18 non turbo summit, (I’m 6’6”), then tried to install the skinz but had to remove it because throttle cable was too short. Is there a longer than stock cable I should get to reinstall to post forward kit?
@RideRasmussenStyle3 жыл бұрын
Yes... Consult your Ski Doo dealer for help. They can set you up with a longer cable. You should consider trying the post forward with a shorter riser though. Even if you are 6'6"you will have better sled control with a shorter riser than you are trying to run.

18 summit non turbo 850. I bought the kit but does the bottom bracket need to be exchanged? Doesn’t look like any difference
@RideRasmussenStyle3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you are asking...The bottom bracket provides more misalignment than the factory equipped piece so that the top of the post can be angled forward.
@summit74234 жыл бұрын
By moving the post forward are you recommending to stick with stock riser height on the expert or lower? Does moving the post forward make it a bit taller I guess is what I’m wondering?
@RideRasmussenStyle4 жыл бұрын
You are thinking along the correct track there. It does raise the bars slightly. Ski-Doo offers an accessory riser that is 3.5" or you can go with a Skinz 3". I personally like the 3" with a zero rise handlebar, so I'm effectively lowering it 2 full inches after accounting for the loss by moving the post forward.
@summit74234 жыл бұрын
@@RideRasmussenStyle thanks! I am planning on going down a inch, at 6’1” tall, that should work good for me. Stock height was good last season on expert, but looking forward to post forward mod on the Turbo!

So would weight reduction help with technical climbing and counter turining
@RideRasmussenStyle4 жыл бұрын
Any amount of weight reduction improves the sleds ability to react to rider input. And when the rider is closer to the weight mass it takes less effort to control the sled. That's why the forward post works so well.

@RideRasmussenStyle3 жыл бұрын
A less experienced rider won't notice the benefit right away. But it will be obvious when you go back to a sled without the forward post. The light bulb will come on and you will realize the benefit!
@stevenphelps15384 жыл бұрын
so is that 2inches forward then ?
@RideRasmussenStyle4 жыл бұрын
2 inches forward when measured at the block. If you measure at the grips it's more than 2 inches.
@cacsrx14 жыл бұрын
Love the idea of post forward, hate how you have to butcher an $18,000 sled to install it.
@RideRasmussenStyle4 жыл бұрын
Not really much butchering going on, just a bit of trimming. Butchering is what we do to the non turbo's with the standard hood and then patch up the hole in the air box:) All in an effort to make a better sled!!
