G4★ Teostra Vs. Heavy Valor Bow - テオ・テスカトル 弓 ソロ【MHXX】

This is a cool matchup I decided to do because it reminds me a lot of Seregios Bow vs. level 140 Teostra in MH4U.
Well except instead of being Normal shots, it's my beloved Heavy Shots.
I talked a bit about them in an old Heavy Bow run, Heavy Shots are my favorite gunning playstyle in the series. They are mortar-like projectiles that require a different kind of aiming compared to all the other shot types.
As their name implies, they are large projectiles that are heavily affected by gravity. Instead of aiming directly at the monster, you have to aim upwards in order for your shots to travel a certain distance before coming down and hitting the monster. They require more skill than any other shot type, are very satisfying to use, and they are incredibly strong (with higher partbreak and stagger multipliers too).
MHGU's G Rank Teostra is basically the same fight as 4U's. It's the old Teostra that everybody loves, with rather unpredictable patterns, and the dreaded instant charges spam. In fact he charged like 4 or 5 times in a row in this run, to the point that even the Valor stance couldn't save me.
It's still a great fight regardless ; I do not keep up with speedrunning times for this game at all, but I think sub 6 on a Teostra without 1 player scaling is pretty good, I think I did pretty well there.

So prior to World, bows were slow paced right? Like you don't rapid fire/dance around a monster. I wish they make a fourth bow type bringing this back. I can see the appeal of a slow/methodical long ranged weapon that doesn't spam hits.

I gotta be honest, I try my best to play every weapon in the Monster Hunter games I play, and I just... I can't do 5th gen Bow. I've tried really hard but it's way, way too spammy. The optimal way to use it is to just mash go on the dashdance and fish for flinches, and I just can't get into it. I miss it being Ranged Greatsword like in 4th gen here, where you'd actually nock a shot and hold on for the right timing, and the skill-testing of the weapon was aiming well in brief openings. The stuff you do nowadays is simultaneously too 'easy' and too annoying for my tastes-- because theoretically if you play safe, Dodgebolt is the only defensive option you need because it's actually really strong, but also, the playstyle encourages me to play like an ass and I end up getting hit a lot, because if I don't play like an ass I don't deal damage because the weapon's output was balanced around being allowed to do that sort of thing. It's a whole thing that bothers me immensely and I just end up not bothering in favor of using the bowguns when I feel like playing ranged in Sunbreak. i miss the hell out of old bow honestly.

Bow isn't exactly slow, valor bow is actually about spamming 2nd power shot. 3rd gen below bow is the true old bow and honestly, it kinda boring. Looking at what they done in mhnow, its....meh. if they want to change bow in gen 6, i want something new or stick to gen 5 style, unless they somehow makes bow even more powerful than hbg while standing still, i dont think anyone gonna pick it. Edit: i solo mhp3rd with bow and mhgu witg valor bow. Mhp3rd bow is fine, but definitely not my favorite, its just not satisfying to use.

Such a weird shot type for bow. Pretty fun to go against Akantor with it since he has such a big head. Great vid!

mhgu bow my beloved ❤❤ adept bow got me across the finish line, but valor is just so fun to play too heavy shot was so cool, i really wish they hadn’t scrapped the old gen bow in 5th gen-new bow doesn’t feel even remotely like the same weapon anymore. you have such great precision with arcing your heavy shots here too, i love seeing you bully toaster so effectively. excellent fashion too-i basically never play female hunters but i envy the gammoth armor so much, it’s just really cute and good looking vs the mens
