Have you found a way to do this with a double vise where the G54 is in the front jaws and your part is going X+ and Y- then in G55, on the back jaws, your part would be going X- and Y+? In a double vise that central FIXED Jaw is what you need to go off of so for back jaw operations it gets messy

Hello. I there any way to align a part on the CNC table, by using 2 or more WCS (G54 and G55)?

suppose I have a single part that has numerous similar / identical operations, except they're on different locations. For example, a six-sided pyramid. Can I create a setup for one side of the pyramid, and then replicate that setup radially on the z-axis to do the remaining five sides using the same operation? In other words, it would be like running a single side operation, rotating the part 60 degrees, and then continue the same operation as before, except by using WCS I would not have to move the part? Do I have that right?

Thanks for the videos - love them and watch them all - very useful tips for learning Fusion 360. I noticed your Haimer was not on zero before using. I believe you should use the ring to centre the 0 on the needle first. Cheers.

The official answer is that Haimer 3D sensors do have a set screw adjustment. You are supposed to adjust the Haimer so that it reads zero when it is not under load, according to the manual.

For some reason I'm following the instructions exactly and it refuses to post a 2nd G55 (or more) to my G Code when I post process. I literly have the same boxes clicked in the Setup/Post Process tab and it only gives me the normal G54 G Code. Any ideas?

Might sound silly, but just try restarting Fusion.

I'm not knocking this at all, I have to be honest. You seemed to have made it harder than it had to be. If they're identical routines, couldn't you have copied it in to notepad and created it? I use CAD/CAM too, but man knowing your code is important. I don't fully trust some post processors either..

Copy & paste in notepad doesn't optimize tool changes. You would complete on part then the next. With this method, both parts are completed together (face both, then contour both etc. ) this reduces run time by eliminating extra tool changes.

Why go the extra step of copy and pasting and possibly missing something when the software will do it for you without error? Or least less error than an extra human step could induce. Plus you can optimize the routines and have both parts done at the same time rather than complete one part entirely before starting the next.

What’s the purpose of your videos? Everything that you show here has been common marching practice for at least 20-30 yrs, are you just capturing on video as you learn to machine? I’m not putting down your vids, I enjoy watching them

yandri arce it helps the ones starting in the field. Not everyone is in the industry, and most are in this for just hobby. So, for those people this kind of content is very informative.

The majority of NYC CNC viewers are either self-taught programmers and machinists running a small business or hobbyists. I fall into the first category, have been teaching myself CAD/CAM and machine work over the last 3-4 years with the Autodesk suite and Tormach machines, so these videos are an awesome resource for people like me who are just starting out or are not formally in the industry.

I am a real beginner at CNC and am learning with my Openbuilds Ox and Fusion 360 as I go. John has gone from from great videos to too fast as he just lacked patience and now back to great instructions again with these short little videos that let you know what you should be doing and aren’t just “look how fast I can do this” as he was beginning to go. Now he’s back to teaching rather than just “showing off” what he can do (some of his videos were so fast that they were just impossible to follow around 4 or 5 years ago). I almost unsubscribed but am glad I didn’t now. So thumbs up mr John Saunders.... as you say, it’s awesome!
