Wow...I used to travel 400 and many of the roads crossing it about 20 years ago.Amazing to see how so much has changed in not so many years.I lived in Sugar Hill for a few and it caught my attention that they now have an exit sign on 400 at Cumming...That little town has doubled in size at the least since I left.New town hall, amphitheater...Just wow!

You might want to point out that when you go through the tunnel under the Atlanta Financial Center ( at 27:12 I believe?) that that tunnel was built years before Hwy 400 was ever extended that far. It was built and then left full of dirt and the building was built on top of it until 400 was extended to it.
@cigarmerchant58362 жыл бұрын
I had a customer/friend at my cigar store in Buckhead in the early '80s that showed me the mock up of the Financial Center. He lifted the building and showed me how 400 was going to go under the building. Seemed far fetched back then. What a visionary.

Thank you for showing the US 19 shield alongside the GA 400 shield until US 19 departs GA 400 at the I-285 interchange. US 19 SB follows I-285 WB for one exit to Roswell Road, then follows Roswell Road SB into Buckhead. GDOT currently has no signage posted that directs US 19 SB traffic onto I-285 WB. They have always been very sloppy about properly posting the US 19 designation along its concurrency with GA 400.
@MileageMikeTravels2 жыл бұрын
No problem. GA 400 is one of the rare instances I’ve seen where the state highway takes priority over the US highway.
@w-josh2 жыл бұрын
@@MileageMikeTravels I've seen alot of interstates that have U.S highways and state routes (usually unsigned) that run concurrent with them and there's no signage to see the U.S highways or state routes
@StreetsofATL_19Ай бұрын
Thank you for mentioning this! They might as well move US 19 off of Roswell Road and make it concurrent with GA 400 to Sidney Marcus Boulevard and then go concurrent with GA 13 Buford Highway to Spring Street. I wonder if they will switch US 19 from GA 60 to the new extended GA 400 going to Cleveland to the Appalachian Parkway GA 11?

@StreetsofATL_19Ай бұрын
The current GA 400 was originally supposed to connect with I-675. Matter of fact the unfinished portion between the current roads were GA 400/I-475 (this predated the Macon by-pass) and later GA 400/I-485 once the Stone Mtn Freeway was 🙅♂️ to be constructed through Decatur to the current Freedom Parkway.

Pretty cool ride on 2X speed. Though 400 is a highway and not an interstate, notice how tree lined it is with few buildings or gas stations or hotels etc visible. This is just part of the beauty of North Georgia.
@jbm712 жыл бұрын
It is built to interstate standards; it just doesn’t have an interstate highway designation. Something else that is not widely known: SR 400, from SR 53 near Dawsonville to I-285, is an Appalachian Development Highway System highway, corridors A and A1.
@w-josh2 жыл бұрын
It is tree lined because it is mainly for the Northern suburbs and connects a lot of residential traffic. This area is high end so they don't have many gas stations in the area either
