There is a reason EV car launches are done in hotter climates. I am living with an EV in Delhi and I can say the following to keep in mind before buying an EV: 1) Range WILL go down if you do multiple stops. Every time you start the car again, range will deplete by some percentage. 2) Range WILL deplete in winters as battery uses its own power to heat it. Plus car heater is also depending on EV battery. 3) Whatever battery range is CLAIMED, ideally subtract 100-150 kms range. 4) Running car with heater uses a bit more power than running it with AC on. 5) Plan your trips well in advance as you would need charger infrastructure on your trip. I use Statiq app for planning trip and it has helped me every time to have a anxiety free drive.
@NavrajRajLostSouls15 күн бұрын
r u using EV, so hot weather is issue, wats ur experience in hot weather
@RaghavSehgal14 күн бұрын
@ extreme climate is an issue for EV. I have driven XUV400 in peak Delhi summers in traffic and the battery does heat up so it automatically limits the speed to 50-60 kmph until the temperature goes under 50 degrees. In winters the battery itself needs to heat up to a temperature and that leads to batteru consumption. Heater also takes up battery power. These things no youtuber will tell us. It is up to us to explore and live with. That’s why I recommend if you have the budget, go for at least 60 kWh battery pack to have lesser range anxiety.

Also, what speed / max. speed were you trying to maintain on the highway? How long did you have to charge it to get it moving again? Did you use V2V? Does Creta have V2V?

Gaurav Ji, I appreciate and congratulate you for the keen commitment in presenting a full range test which is very important and useful. In future I would appreciate if you can do the same test with a speed between 90 and 100 kmph - this will help us in zeroing the required EV car. A good range test, information on car Dynamics is always useful. Range of 400 is not acceptable from Hyundai; In my view the minimum range has to be 400 with 10% SOC (State of Charge) left as a back up where we star looking for a charging station. I personally like the Kona model which I feel is more better looking than Creta, and Kona is a E-GMP (Global Modular Platform) skate board platform hence better. Not sure why Hyundai is delaying the long range option of Kona which has been available outside India for quite some years. Even the Ioniq5 version available in India is outdated. For some reason I feel Hyundai is taking the Indian customer for granted, this is not good for the Hyundai stock.

@@pranavvalvaikar2170 I think 350, because Windsor 38 gives 320; this could give you 350 easily if driven appropriately; if driven sedately, then 380 with a 41 kW battery.

@@pranavvalvaikar2170 which is why it'd be better if the brand releases information about battery consumption at 80-120kmph with ac on and usable battery capacity that way we'd have some rough estimate of how much range the car would give.

That's some test of range, Gaurav ! Wonder what HMIL guys will say after this ? The performance of the car is great, but the only put off is the visible battery stuck below the car. Tell me, can this be stolen ? Nice way to reduce the battery percentage remaining so that the range shock is reduced and people do not deep discharge the battery. Please do a comparo with the eVitara, that should put things in perspective. Wonder what TATA and Mahindra will do now ? The BEV 6 and 9e are the most unlikeable looking cars that I have seen till date. Straight out of a sci-fi movie !
