Germany dominated, played with confidence and equalized in the dying minutes while creating a lot of chances. I wouldn't call that "exposed".

Germany 1.7 XG, Switzerland 0.6 XG. Not enough for domination but also clearly not exposed. It wasn't wonderful by Germany, but otoh getting a little unlucky is not a crime. The late equalizer was lucky too, but you really can't say Switzerland deserved to win instead.

Because switzerland really after that goal sat SO DEEP. That there really wasnt any other possible way this game COULD go but the way you saw. Thats the whole deal of switzerland. Theyre not a good team. BUT they also KNOW THAT. And that their strength. Unlike hungary. They were utterly lucky the goal AGAINST THEM didnt stand. But the goal FROM THEM did. And so after that they just kept 11 man in their own last 3 for about 75% of the game. Which really literally MEANS they were dominated. BUT they also expected that. And played accordingly. Which is why i am for a blind system like in poker for football. So teams can not destroy football like this anymore. Whether thats Greece winning a whole euros with this tactic. Whether that is Atletico or as in this case switzerland. It just should not be possible to "play" this way. People payed MONEY for this. And people pay A LOT of money for this. Only so one team come to play and the other comes LITERALLY NOT TO. What is this!? But thats a different point.

Suisse exposed Germany. They dismantled their gameplan while Germany couldn't crack Suisse. Germans scored their goal in 92nd minute after corner or free kick. They were exposed regarding how to counter their playstyle successfully for everyone to see. The next team Germany is going to face will do the same to counter them. Not great, especially with all the yellow cards in the defense and stuff.

Pundits vastly underrate Switzerland, not just around here. Their 3-1 against Hungary in the first game should be a warning sign to everyone. Sure, Germany didn't have their strongest performance, but they did fight to the end and got their result. Ultimately, the German squad are a team in transition and under reconstruction, and that reconstruction has only just begun. Reaching the quarter finals would be a success, reaching the semis a bonus, winning the title a fantasy.

thats not true? Germany played good. Switzerland just sat in their own last 3rd with 11 men for over 80% of the game? They were extremely lucky to have this referee. And to hold on as long as they did. Germany is absolutely among the favorites to win the title. I have no doubt about that. And quarter finals would not be enough after the last years. Winning the title is definitely not a MUST. But to say its a fantasy or semis being a bonus. Thats just totally ridiculous.

The 1 big critique I would levy was their poor shot accuracy. many players like Kai, Gundogan, and Kroos did not strike the ball well on goal, that happens sometimes.

I might be wrong, but i fell.Germany is not that a scary team. The Scotland match was an outlier. If they get a team well organized defensively and with a strong midfield, they might suffer. It feels sometimes that they are still working on their new dentity and style of play. That is, they aren't particularly strong yet on the mixed structured/creative style they are trying to create.

Weird analysis on Beier: - first time he came on in the friendly he immediately worked, almost scoring twice hitting the cross - he is by a mile the fastest player in the squad giving the depth Germany was lacking in vertical play - he would’ve immediately contributed a penalty if it wasn’t for the poor decisions of the ref - as a playing 9 making those runs in behind he outclasses Havertz and Sané In dangerousness Juls seems slightly more competent in knowing Wirtz, Musiala Are no wide wingers

game looked alot like a typical german national game: control the game, but dont create alot of decisive chances, opponent counterattacks and makes 1 or 2 goals out of 2 or 3 chances. i definetely would not say that switzerland controlled the major part of the game. i also didnt understand the beier-substitution, especially before sane and füllkrug but maybe nagelsmann wanted to give some other players some playing-time aswell to prepare them for the knockout-stage. yes you want the first place but if ur really trying to "avoid" italy, then you dont think that you have a chance to win the cup anyway.
