I'm assuming that the club was focused on transfers over the summer (OK, they only got a couple in, but a lot of work was put into getting people out and I'm sure they worked on deals that didn't come off), and that they're going to look at contracts now. And that could be because they were leaving themselves open to the possibility of selling one of the three if a ridiculously good offer came in. If they get Virgil, Mo and Trent signed up to new contracts before the the New Year there's really no issue. Does sound like they're perhaps not communicating as well as we'd like (am assuming that beyond being consulted about whether he wants to keep them Slot isn't involved in contracts); but if they did have an eye on maybe accepting an offer perhaps it was better to say nothing.

I don't see why this is so hard to understand. A coach's job is to set up a team that suits the players available to you. Thats why you get paid. If every coach had the best players in the world for every position , you wouldn't need a coach. Goldberg could coach the team. You show your tactical knowledge by 1. Coaching the players you already have, making them better, & getting the best out of them. Has ten hag done that in 2 years? 2. Setting up your team according to your strengths. Maybe it isn't attractive football, maybe it isn't "Manchester United football" but you do it to get results until you have the right players to play your ideal system. Ten hag does the opposite of this. He has one system, one style & implements it no matter if he has the correct players or not. He's a one trick pony. Why has signed half the players from the Ajax team he won with. It's the only success he has known and is the only way he knows how to play. If lesser teams did this, they wouldn't win one game. You analyze your strengths at the time & Manchester United does have good players. They just aren't coached well and aren't out in the correct system. If you have Casemiro who can't run but is a good playmaker, then do you create a gap of 4 players up front and then nothing in the middle of the pitch so you expose him every single game? No that would be absurdly insane but ten hag does this every single game. Opposing coaches are almost laughing because they expect him to play different and he doesn't. Teams are excited to play United now because they can prepare for an entire week knowing how they will play. Attack right side. Cross and do a pullback or know far post will always be open. It's 90% of the goals we allow. How as fans can we see this? And he doesn't. This is the criticism on ten hag. He isn't adaptable, doesn't make his existing players better, and isn't tactically very good. I think they kept him knowing that until they do 1-2 more transfer windows, bring in the correct players who want to work, & get rid of all the deadweight we accumulated, that it made more sense to keep ten hag so he gets the blame this season and then fire him and bring in they want with no pressure and a clean slate.

Don’t think Chiesa has anything to do with replacing Mo. If it was, think we’d have gone in harder for Gordon. More about complimenting an aging player, IMO. Mo was impacted by injury for the first time, last year. However well conditioned, he’ll increasingly need protecting at a time there’s more & more games. He needs a back up to keep him firing for as long as possible. Elliot had been used as such, but he isn’t a right winger. Chiesa can also play central - Jota gets injuries and Nunez is ‘work in progress’. Just makes sense as a smart opportunity…

Not a United fan, and love watching them lose regardless, but I'm all honesty, whilst Casemiro deserves some criticism, he was not too blame for lack of support and options he received (or didn't to be more accurate) and It's nothing new, Eric Ten Hag encourages same issues every single week. Sit back and counter attack. It's great when they are playing smaller clubs and they can get away with it virtue of having better players, but against better teams where you have to actually try control a game for period of the game to actually get results, it's usually going to end badly. They got pressed and didn't have quality in middle to try assert any control in response. Then around 65-70 minute mark, when they are usually out the game, they start making changes and offering a response, even if brief. He regularly makes strange decisions like playing Fernandes up front instead of the new striker you bought. I'm happy to watch them continue to waste time with him, but if I can put on a neutral mentality, I can only say, "he should have gone in summer, and he should still go now. There's still no identity visible despite spending more than almost every team, except for Chelsea, who are a complete joke anyway".

Ten Hag blaming Casimero is just all part of his gaslighting. Whilst Casimero made 2 poor choices (And lets be honest Casimero just doesn't have the legs or the interest anymore) Liverpool still had a fair way to go to score those goals.
