In the past 5 or so years she's had so so many 'I'm finally at peace with myself and letting go of negativity' phases, it's always the same cycle and I feel so sad for her. I don't think she's ever truly been stable and happy

Was literally just thinking this. As someone who cares for a parent w bipolar; seeing them struggle w this before being in my care, it _COULD_ be that she's been going on and off her meds. So the peace she keeps finding is when she is stabilized on her meds? Edit: I suspect she got these tattoos in a manic state and now it reminds her of that and she's doesn't like the reminder.

Especially bc I truly feel she has mental health issues that she isn’t treating properly. For instance she uses weed and I don’t care who you are that doesn’t treat mental health issues. I feel she needs to seek help and get the proper medication/help she needs to get her mental health under control.

It's not uncommon for people with bipolar and borderline personality to go on and off medication. They medication can help with stability along side other tools like therapies, but once in a while the urge to just stop them to feel more "alive" causes strong bouts of mania/depression etc. Once they spiral they will probably go back to treatment with therapies and meds back to being "at peace" just rinse and repeat. It's hard to live your life in a healthy way when you're brain tells you to stop because it feels good and "free"

She exploited her own friend’s trauma and made herself out to be the victim somehow, even though she is most definitely one of these emotional abusers she’s always talking about. I feel this too, I had a friend like that who I also eventually had to distance myself from because it was absolutely wrecking me and my own mental health trying to help her with hers. Sometimes we just need to protect ourselves because it's either burn ourselves out trying to help others and then need even more help for ourselves, or help ourselves first and help others who gladly accept the help and put in the effort themselves. @familyheirloomtomato
@familyheirloomtomato Жыл бұрын
I agree. People always quickly equate bad behaviour to a fundamentally bad person. Sometimes mental illness brings out the worst, and in those worst moments their rational judgement isn’t all there. It doesn’t mean what she’s done is okay, but it does still mean she is a human trying to figure out life with the cards she was dealt. Humility and accountability is a great first step and I hope she takes it. It sucks that people are so quick to decide “nope, bad behaviour = evil person so I’ll use my empathy elsewhere”. Maybe the best way to practice unbiased empathy is when you can see that a person who hasn’t done good things is still a hurting human. Maybe that’s how we help people become better instead of criticizing them to death.

I can't stress enough how much it helps me deal with pain. Moderation is everything, too much of anything is bad. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out. If she pushes them away after that, that’s on her. The internet is just horrible for her and I think she needs to stay off it for a long time. Being bipolar is really lonely, especially when you have comorbidies and aren't in treatment or are still learning to cope. It's not this imagine that everyone thinks it is. There are people that are outwardly angry and it can be scary. But, it's also really scary to live with and it drives a lot of people away in ways we don't even think of. Self isolation, the mania, the depression, the irritation, so much of it is an upward battle and sometimes it feels easier to get rid of everyone around you rather than constantly explain, apologize, and be a disappointment. Not that our mental illness is an excuse, that's not what I'm saying. Just that when you are in the midst of learning, healing, and growing, you are bound to run into a few bumps in the road and we feel that as much as the people around us. Ultimately it is our job to learn to cope, and some people just have to do it through a different lense. I just really empathize with that loneliness and I hope she really sees some improvement. Anyone else struggling I hope you know it's not a loss cause and it does get easier. You aren't alone and are valued and loved in this world. 💜

as someone who used to smoke weed from 12-17 years old, it is very true the way she feels about it. i had a lot of childhood trauma and i came to the realization that i was using weed to suppress my depression and trauma instead of actually feeling those feelings and healing from them with time. i kept pushing it back further and further and now i’m almost 22 and finally starting to heal and become a more confident person and recognize that my trauma does not define me. i still lots of work to do but please if you smoke super often and have the urge to because your sad or don’t want to feel emotions, please look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you want your emotions to be suppressed by a substance or if you want to actually heal… it is very much an addiction… it is a psychological addiction .

Weird how that works.. that’s why I understand celebrities saying they are depressed and never put them down with the money argument. Just bc you have money, it doesn’t mean you are invincible to depression. In fact, I think it makes it even worse-life is so much more empty and fake for very rich celebrities, in my opinion. I’ve been in a position of having no friends before. The covid lockdowns were a wake-up call for me, when I realised that besides working from home, my life was no different because I never went out and socialised anyway. I’ve also dealt with depression. But the thing is, eventually you have to stop crying over it and just be humble and be brave and put yourself out there. Once I put the work in, I made several really good close friends. Moving out of LA won’t fix anything for Gabbie, because the problem isn’t the city, it’s that she doesn’t know how (or doesn’t care) to be genuine, be kind, to think of other people, to put herself out there and be open to other people without being self-centred. Until she fixes her own issues, she will continue to have no friends.

the saddest part about depression and anxiety and ADHD is that you KNOW this is all mental and you KNOW there are real kids and adults that are PHYSICALLY suffering and you, an able bodied "physically healthy" person, are suffering and can't help yourself but actually you're the only person that CAN help yourself. i say this bc i feel this way. and this feeling of depression only intensified after having children. but it is a concious daily effort to fight for my life.. my kids and my husband should not have to suffer because of my mental illness...some days are worse than others.. if you cannot spiritually handle regular use and overuse of THC it will eventually lead to a psychotic break.

I just hope that she isn’t doing this rebirth, self healing journey alone. I really hope she is being guided and instructed by a professional. Medications need to be monitored by a dr and they need to make sure she doesn’t stop taking them once she starts to feel good. It happens often someone will take meds, feel better and think they don’t need the meds anymore. Gabby has gone thru so many cycles of depression, anger, depression, self discovery. She’s so hard on herself and has unrealistic expectations I think. Yes, it’s good to be grateful for your body, your health, your wealth, etc, but she obsesses on these things o the point it overtakes her life. She needs to be the healthiest, the richest, etc. She didn’t just work out years ago, she obsessively went to the gym, changed her entire diet, her life revolved around the gym, not fitting the gym into her life. When she started painting she didn’t just start out slowly, she jumped in, bought a ton of canvasses, painted nonstop, painted her house, everything became about her painting, even her music took a backseat to her painting for a while. Now I’m not saying these are bad hobbies, but the way she lets those hobbies over take her life isn’t healthy. She has tried SO hard to fit in, to find where she belongs, she’s excluded herself and is now alone. I just hope she can find real peace. No one deserves to feel that way.

She did this to herself, while I do think part of it is from her not treating her mental health properly that doesn’t mean that her actions during her unstable moments mean nothing. She has burned every bridge and every tendril of roots she has had left and people are fairly forgiving if you are honest with yourself and them but she doesn’t see past the things they have done to her despite her lashing out tenfold. I say this as someone who is still making a journey in my own mental health and as someone who has managed to have a fairly privileged treatment for it. I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense I have trouble wording my thoughts lol.

i've been through a very similar meltdown a few years ago. I want to feel bad for her, and I do to a certain extent, but 1) it doesn't really seem like she's been doing much to actively combat her mental health issues and 2) I will forever see her as reprehensible for what she did to jessi as a survivor of sa myself (which is what caused me to have a mental breakdown in the first place but I digress). hopefully she gets the help she needs but this shit is a like a cycle and it won't stop until she actually takes responsibility for the way she's treated people and gets the actual help she needs.

So do I. It hurts like hell. But unlike you, and unlike myself, she actively exploited her friends, created drama that did not exist, and hurt people on a deeply emotional level. All for her own gain. There is a reason why she has no friends. She has never been a friend. The pain runs a lot deeper when you have been the best friend you can possibly be- and it’s not enough. It’s not my fault that it wasn’t enough. Nothing would ever have been enough. But the two very close friends that I lost, I will always love and I always miss. To anyone who reads this, thank you. It was a bit therapeutic to write down the reality of the situation. I used to think I could’ve done more, or done things differently- but it would not have mattered. It’s a sad place to be- but seeing the reality of the situations really does help.

The best thing anyone can do who suffers from mental health issues is to leave or break from social media either altogether or for a year. It's hard when you're addicted to anything you know is hurting you that you you've used as a crutch to avoid whatever is hurting you inside. I struggle with quitting vaping and leaving social media myself because I'm a stay at home mom now, and I need something to distract me when it gets hard. I love it though, and wouldn't trade it, but it's hard when you have to put your career on hold and go through a few struggle years.

I get "wanting to focus on the positive and move forward" and "Needing to forgive yourself" But like... what is it that she is forgiving herself for? It still sounds like she has taken 0 accountability for the things that she has done and tends to blame other people for her mistakes. How can you "forgive yourself" if you refuse to acknowledge WHAT IT IS that you need to be forgiven for? LIke. That's probably why she has no one in her life. Because she still has a lot of things she needs to actually acknowledge and take full accountability for. Just because YOU "want to move on and forgive yourself" doesn't mean other people have to or even can. This isn't something she can just montage her way through. It's not gonna feel good for her and I get she wants to put her mental health first, but she can't keep running away from every little ounce of guilt that makes her feel bad. Kinda a "do the crime, do the time" thing.

She doesn’t want help, she wants attention even if it’s in the most strangest and needy way possible. Maybe that’s why her family and friends don’t want to have much association with her. Also Gabbie screwed everyone who genuinely cared about her and loved her, She stabbed them in the back she didn’t recognize their efforts and help. She doesn’t have anyone by her side anymore because she chose that path, She could’ve prevented that but she obviously didn’t want to. Of course she doesn’t forgive herself, she never saw the damage until it was too late and it started affecting her and her whole life. Gabbie will never be okay if she doesn’t actually do what needs to be done, like apologize, show remorse for her actions and words, clean up her past friendships who cared about her and she stabbed, mend herself positively and in a healthy way.
