I'm not confident Southgate will quit and even less so that the FA would push him if he doesn't. Southgate is a deceivingly arrogant man. I say deceivingly because people often think arrogance only manifests itself via overt cockiness but it doesn't. You can see it in his refusal to change his starting line-ups, his continuation of taking the knee for years on end despite disapproval from the fans. It's not because he's "safe" or scared to change things, it's because he's stubbornly arrogant in his belief that he knows best and he will, even today, still believe that he's the best man to take England to the next World Cup. i just find it baffling how much stick he gets from the majority of people. The players are overrated. There is literally not 1 player of this crop that would make my all time England 11. we had better teams through 2002 and 2006 but ultimately lost in 4 quarter finals. even with so called prolific winning foreign coaches we paid a fortune too. As a englishmen its took me nearly 40 years to clearly see how much we all hype our boys up. Look at boxing for instance and how much we hyped up Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury for them both to be outclassed by a much smaller and older ukrainian. We over hype are players. Saka has argubly been the best player for england this tournament but he isnt a touch on the young kid lamel. Its the same across all our teams gerrard is no zidane and rooney was no henry. An average German side in a quarter final is the highlight of his tenure. The first time we play against a fairly decent team in a tournament it’s a given we will come up short. A plethora of undoubtedly talented players who are competing in, and winning the most prestigious trophies at their respective clubs, but somehow perform at a level that is far below their level of potential is so disheartening to watch. The fact that anyone could see the imbalance of the team, especially on the left side, yet the most perplexing aspect is that a left footed, and naturally gifted attacking player has bewilderingly been given a 4 minute cameo during the whole campaign. Individual flashes of brilliance by certain players is the sole factor behind our progression in this tournament. An inability to press home any advantage has cost us dearly. I simply can’t watch another England game if Simpgate is at the helm. I’ve been watching England for nearly 50 years, and this is by far the most frustrating and saddening experience in the whole of that time. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿UTV.

Regarding England's performance levels at the euros. Yes, we got to the final!! But when you analyse performance to performance, we were behind in so many games and scraped through, some would say deservedly, some would say luckily. Southgate never released the shackles from the team and was reserved through out the tournament. If he had started Cole Palmer Ollie Watkins and Anthony Gordon etc we would have stretched teams and probably got ahead in the games we went behind. Ultimately in the final against a side that does all those things with their very best players. We were found out in a tight game. Yes, there is some hindsight in this post. But I honestly believe modern day football is about being on the front foot attacking with aggression. That my friends is why we failed!!!!

Declan Rice is the main reason we cant play through midfield. He's simply not technically good enough and its time for the BS about how amazing he is to stop. Kobbie Mainoo, James Maddison, Harvey Elliot, Adam Wharton - these are the types of players you need in the middle of the park, not pass it sideways and back plodders like Rice. I would also put Connor Gallagher in the same category. Not good enough.

Always say and will repeat again, problem with English football is they don’t produce quality midfielders, and don’t come up with the Rice’s,Bellingham’s,Gallaghers’s etc, they are runners and workhorses but lack the vision,the passing quality, the cutting edge and control the tempo of the game , that’s why they got outclassed in the middle of the park as they were against Croatia,Italy and now Spain.

time and time and time again you do it to yourselves, you completely exhaust your own players mentally with one extreme to another. You say "its coming home" like you own football and it should be in England. You get royalty, film stars, pop stars and other sport stars to make videos, you start talking about who should be knighted after you win but also at the same time degrade them. You make them do interview after interview in the build up to every game, repeatedly ask them if they know what it means to the country etc which obviously takes its toll. Sure other countries get emotional as well, but no-one does it to the same extent as England and its why almost everyone else end up wanting you to lose. Your country gets the results the people deserve!
