Riley Sager got some big publishing deal where he’s pushing a new book out annually which at first I was thrilled about, but as the quality has gone way down as the quantity has gone up… he’s swiftly gone from an auto-buy author to one of the most disappointing! No bueno!! Be better Sager !!!!! 😠😠😠😠

DNF'd Butcher & Blackbird. Don't even understand the point. And though I finished it, Daisy Jones & the Six now that I finally got to it was inexplicable to me. No character development, no plot, and not even the writing I loved in Malibu Rising.

Being boring is probably worse than bad 😂 Agree this year's Riley Sager novel is nowhere near his best. Murder Road is also my most disappointed, but I love the Book Troop live show roast associated with it! Other disappointments for me this year are: Graveyard Shift by M.L. Rio, The Mystery Writer by Sulari Gentill, and Shark Heart by Emily Habeck.

I was also so disappointed in Butcher & Blackbird!! I was expecting way more murder/serial killing and there were like 3 scenes of it. I'm not a dark romance reader either and figured I'd give it a try and I felt like it didn't give that at all . I've heard such bad things about Murder Road and that's so sad because I've enjoyed a handful of her other books but I will definitely be skipping Murder Road.

Loved the video. I have the very unpopular opinion of We Used to Live Here. I was 30% in and DNF’d. The first few chapters gave me anxiety in a good way. Then the main character started really getting on my nerves and the family made no sense. I like a suspension of disbelief but that book took the concept to far. Anyway I can’t wait to watch the best books and happy holidays.

The only book on this list that I've read is Butcher & Blackbird and I loved it. I also loved Leather & Lark. My most disappointing read was In The Miso Soup, I've had this on my list for SO long and then I finally read it and it was a pretty big let-down, everything I've heard about it is literally only 1 scene in the book. So frustrating. My least favorite book of the year though was I'm Thinking of Ending Things, it was so lackluster and boring and pointless.

My worst read this year was The Teacher by Freida Mcfadden. So long and boring, and its supposed to be a thriller. Nothing really happened in the beginning which was disappointing. And the writer didn`t know how to write dialogue between teenagers. I read The Housemaid which was so good. So it was a let down. Expected more from her sadly :( Hopefully the next book i read by her is better

@ I think everything she said about both of them were true. Midnight on Beacon Street I gave a 4. I think in order to really appreciate that book you have to have a deep appreciation for 80s-90s horror films. It was slow and not the biggest payout. It was a short read tho. I enjoyed it enough to buy it for my shelf.
@WildMoonLacquer17 сағат бұрын
I hate it when book blurbs flat out lie or give false expectations for a book 😒😕 Like, why? It does no one any favors, least of all the author. 🤷♀I read mostly romantic suspense, so what I'm looking for in a good read is great romantic tension that includes awesome chemistry, a mystery element or danger that keeps the stakes high, and characters that I enjoy reading about. 👎A few of my least favorites of the year were: 🌑Perfect by Judith McNaught - 1 star. This was mainly romance with a mystery thrown in that ended up offering far less suspense than I was hoping it would. Plus it was tooooo long!!! Holy moly. It could have been edited to - no joke - half its page count and lost nothing. Plus the heroine was written as so young and naive that she was irritating. Don't even get me started on how boooring the last quarter of the book was 🥱 🌑Dead Ringer by Jasmine Cresswell 2 star. Mainly the writing was what dragged this one down. It was written almost entirely in a passive voice, with things being told to us, instead of us being along for the ride with the characters and their reactions to events. But another thing I didn't enjoy was how drastically our heroine reacted to things - again without communicating to us any good reasons why. It made her seem emotionally unstable. 🌑Black Ice by Anne Stuart 2 stars. This was my second attempt at reading her Ice series, and I just do not jive with her psychotic heroes. 😬 They are emotionless, legitimately psycho, and are often, well..cold. None of which does anything for me. ♦ I'd be interested in a video of your DNFed books too! Always interesting to see what someone really really didn't mesh with. I think this year was my biggest DNF year, with 15 books getting the axe. ~Caroline

I Loved Someone In The Attic!
@biancatainadiasreis8606 күн бұрын
I liked Butcher and Blackbird but I agree that it's not that good. It's a satire of a dark romance. In essence, it's a romantic comedy and for me, many clichés didn't work, for example, the disagreements because the protagonists don't communicate, the super intelligent characters becoming dumb to fit into the plot twist at the end, and a super intelligent villain who discovered things that no one would discover even though it would logically be impossible. And one thing that really irritates me is that the author didn't create any original serial killers; they are all derivatives of serial killers that already exist in pop culture, Norman Bates, Ed Gein and of course Hannibal Lecter.

my least favourite books were milkman (which I hate PASSIONATELY), what feasts at night (which was just mind-numbingly boring and disappointing because I have enjoyed the first book in the series), interesting facts about space (because I didn't care for the characters and because the depiction of depression pissed me off), kill for me kill for you (because I was bored and the ending pissed me off with the depiction of mental health disorders), under the rainbow and incidents around the house (because i was bored). but milkman definitely takes the cake for being THE WORST book of the year. I think if I had been a little more generous with my ratings this year I would have given all of these books 2 stars and only Milkman would have be given 1 star. But I'm not. I'm pissed that I haven't enjoyed THE HALF of the books that I was reading this year. Meh.

No exit by Taylor Adam's I dnf this one I'm srry I just couldn't do it this one put mi into such a reading slump so if u like this one more power to you 😂😂I'm glad u liked it 2. Lights out by navessa Allen I dnfed this one after 7 chapters I'm srry I just couldn't do it at all this was compared to the cat and mouse duet n Butchered and blackbird so much that when I started lights out it's all I could compare it to n it kinda ruined my reading experience n plus I couldn't care less about the characters or the stalking it was just meh 3. You shouldn't have come here by Geneva rose dnfed this one bc it had more romance then thriller vibes 4. Middle of the night by Riley sager gave it two stars this one nothing happened this one for 90% of the book n when something did happen it felt flat n didn't make the book any better

I agree with everything you said. It almost felt like it was written by a completely different person. All the ‘twists’ were things I saw coming from ten miles away. Every single thing. Every red herring was obvious, and I swear, if his phone had received one more notification from his stupid field camera I might have ripped the book in half. It’s the first of his books I’m unhauling.
