Honestly quitting the rest of social media and just having positive things going into your life was the thing that made the biggest difference for me starting out

I haven’t had any social media for 5 years now (except KZbin) and I’ve been so much more happier and in the moment. I also learned a lot more about myself and a lot more opportunities came my way. I think social media is negative sometimes and it kinder attracts negativity. You got it though!

You are exactly right. When I did not make the bare minimum to survive I knew it was up to me to get a higher paying job. I finally got a better job and never forgot when I did not have enough money. So I saved as much I could so I would be free. It worked out. Now I am 70 years old and live a comfortable life. I was very blessed and got lucky. I worked my whole life and always had a job. I also knew a lot about managing my money which made it all possible.

Thank you SO much for this one Gabe. Even as a high income earner, I realize I have ‘poor’ habits. It’s a hard thing to break to be honest. I’m struggling to find a balance between being a father, career-person, musician, technologist and husband, and this was the uplift I feel I needed today. You do reach a lot of this, and for that I’m very grateful

As a father of four-year-old twins, I tried to make every weekend special for a long time. In this case, special meant that we did something that cost money. Amusement park, movie theater, swimming pool, etc. At some point, and God only knows why it took me so long, I realized that it was all about time. The kids love the forest, the mountains and just playing together in the playroom. It's not about money... the only thing that's important for the kids is time... This realization in turn saves a lot of money.

I don't usually buy stuff, only like once or twice a year. And I noticed that I get very excited about it and buying something makes me happy for a while, like a month or so when I experience this new shiny thing. Then the joy fades in the background and suddenly things start to feel like another chore: keeping it working, paying taxes, refill it, safely store it, whatever. I've been thinking about it lately and I realized that I'm becoming quite frustrated with money... every ad, every price tag, every new stuff in the world start to feel like a trap and an annoyance. But don't get me wrong, I'm not becoming the old Marner yet... I still think a upgrading to a good chair or a top coffee machine is totally worth it. But most of things, the spending habits that make the economy work... feels like literally collecting garbage to me.

I started changing my mindset 3 years ago. Nowadays I work for the government, I work 4x9 so my weekend is always 3 days. I am taking 2 months a year off (payed) and I am investing as much as I can while paying off my last remaining student debt. I can save around 1500 euro In the month then. I think in 5/6 years I can start working 32 hours in the week while still maintaining my current salary. My world changed so much after I readed rich dad pore dad. 😊 And starting watching your videos!

Interesting video! Definitely some really good takeaways around building the life you want. I would counter though that there could be a more balanced approach here for most people. Time with your friends and families in your twenties is extremely valuable and putting that on hold for five years to to become really wealthy (but potentially lose valuable friendships, enjoyment of life, time spent with loved ones etc) would be quite an extreme take. Who is to say that your family are going to be around in five years? Life can throw us some plot twists and we can't take it for granted that we all get to eighty. We never know what is round the corner. Are your friends going to be as social in five-ten years time when they have families to look after, and you're finally ready to socialise? Will you regret not being there for your pal when they needed a night-out or a holiday with you? Things like going to the theatre or a museum or travel.. culture is so valuable to personal development. Sure it has a cost attached to it, but don't waste your life chasing 'financial freedom' if that's going to mean you miss out on life now. I also really value my 9-5 , it gives me the money I need to do the things I'd like to do, it keeps my brain active, and I enjoy spending my time with my colleagues. Although I acknowledge I'm lucky to be in the profession I enjoy and that's not the case for everyone doing a 9-5. Maybe this is about what financial freedom means to different people and perhaps financial freedom for me means I won't be a millionaire in ten years, but I'll be happy, enjoying a flexible job, and enjoying spending time with family and friends. Great video anyway, has got me thinking!

Not only I ask Gabe for advice but anyone that might think they can help me,,,, say something to me...2025 has to be the year where I break free from this horrible addiction ❤

The house always wins! Casino's and betting sites are rigged so that overall you will always lose. The mathematics is geared for you to lose and the owners/developers to win, over and over again, the odds are designed against the gambler. (I'm not against gambling by the way!). It's like the tobacco companies, they design and market cigarettes to target certain demographics purely to make money. Carefully crafted to lure people in, and keep them paying. Some of the leaked documents from these organisations are horrifying. We are just fools to them, and 'deserve' to hand over our money. But you knew this already, didn't you? They know that you know, but will keep you hooked. Look up Denise Coates, her net worth is something like 10.1 billion USD (2024) Forbes, she's the CEO of one of the UK's gambling companies.

I’ll tell you the same thing I’ve told myself. Most billionnaires have made it without risking any penny in a casino or on a lottery ticket and so do you 🙂.
@nicolletelangdon269414 күн бұрын
I'll tell you something I realized. Casino's are making money off of you, so is the lottery ticket system, and so are other gambling methods. You are making someone else wealthy. this places and things don't like you, they laugh at you, and outside the casino, the people who own them would not want to be your friend, or around them. They just want you to go spend money there. Same thing with the lottery.

I feel like you are constantly conflating "sacrifice" with "gambling". You took a punt and it worked out. Good for you. But that does not mean you get to then look at others who don't wish to make the same calculations as you did and paint that as a lack of willingness to give up short term for long term gains. Life doesn't have a strategy guide that guarantees certain outcomes with certain inputs
@TheSoaphippo6 күн бұрын
Maybe so, but going against the status quo and accomplishing more than others will require significant sacrifice

The first point is bullshit because you are not speaking about having lot of money but being millionarie and that is only achievable the way you describe. It is litterally the mechanism of our economy (which is capitalism). The rest of the tips are correct and middle class people should go that way. But really, in your book shelves you should add books that speaks about economy, not finance, and understand what capitalism is.
@AndyRoidEU15 күн бұрын
I agree though he made me thinking that maybe if the richer people didn't keep the money made out of people, they wouldn't be able to grow and enhance their business. If they "gave it away" with higher wages, they would be as poor as the working class. Most money of the rich is not in cash but assets, I guess stocks and more, not directly usable.
@laundrygoddess415 күн бұрын
He's right though. If you have a negative mindset that your life isn't capable of getting money because you aren't evil like rich people. He's not wrong.
@lp749315 күн бұрын
@@laundrygoddess4 Indeed is not bad having lot of money. I also have more assets than average people in my country (Italy). I, for now, fit well in the definition of middle class. But the money (cash, asset, whatever) that super rich people have is totally out of our imagination, you would not even know what to do with that amount of richness. No one is talking about people who has a couple of millions in their asset. The problem for middle class is that we don't have an awarness of our group. From one side you have people being just envy of your manager/director (which are absolutely not the real rich) and would not do anything to aim for that position; from the other side you have people that for instance are against super taxes for the rich people because somehow they think (thanks to the "american dream") one day they can be Musk, which won't happened.
