Indeed. You'd want a concierge to discover your credit card when it's been reported stolen. And the fact that he's noticing the child using it is suspicious beforehand indicates he's all the better at his job. His approach to Kevin was too scary and aggressive and was what made him run. Ultimately that was his only crime. And having seen store owners catch shoplifters do worse, it wasn't too bad.
@popobaba36872 жыл бұрын

Funny thing is the Hotel Staff are incredibly incompetent. Now letting him check-in is understandable however as far as the hotel staff knew, during Kevin's stay at least, there was an actual adult staying in the room. Why confront the child staying if you find out the room is on a stolen card? If they learned from police that his family were not with him why confront the child, who appears to have been kidnapped, about his real dad's stolen credit card? You see either way they are incompetent to confront Kevin about it.

The problem was that it wasn't bringing anything new. And to just have Harry and Marv return feels very lazy. Honestly, why couldn't the concierge (Mr Hector in the script), Cedric, and the Desk Clerk (Hester) be the villains? They'd be a much better threat for Kevin since they're in a much higher position of power and they're word would be more believable than a 10-year old with a "STOLEN CREDIT CARD" (sorry, just had to....). I mentioned in another comment that an easy way to fix this is by having the 3 of them conning their way into getting their jobs. They plan to scam the hotel out of everyone’s money, and instead of the Toy Store doing the donation, it’s the Plaza. Kevin, however catches on to what they're doing and this can be a perfect set-up for Kevin to use his tape recorder. When the Concierge catches on to what Kevin's up to and that he's no Peter McCallister, and when Kevin attempts to escape the place, he realizes he can't just go and let those three thieves get away with what they're doing, so he creates a trap to lure them to the cops and the climax has him being confronted by the Concierge where he confesses what he's going to do, and that, "Nobody shall believe a brat with a stolen credit card. It's my word against yours." to which Kevin reveals the tape recording with the confession of what the three were going to do with the Plaza's money as the cops finally arrive, maybe even the boss of the place showing up, to confront them. The rest of the movie continues from there, and we can still keep the final scene where Kevin is left with a large room service bill (except it's not Cedric who hands it to Buzz...).

I agree! I recently saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I was in love with him as Dr. Frank'n'Futer. Excellent movie!

Such a shame he cant really live action in movies anymore

Turns out, the "Cedric, dont count your tips in public" bit was completely improvised by Tim Curry and Rob Schneider.

5:19 - 5:25 was the perfect slap in existence (both the slap itself, the sound and the reaction). Love that scene. 5:20

"Do bundle up. It's awfully cold outside". He says that line, with an abundance of caution. That's because he doesn't want to get slapped again!

5:18 I always hated how Kevins mom slapped him in the face! After all, her poor parenting was the actual reason why Kevin was lost in New York...😅

I can’t even WATCH Home Alone bc Kevin’s family treats him like 💩 I wasn’t abused by my family, btw. I just get empathetic for Kevin.

This was like the substitute for a Tim Burton movie that Tim Curry never got to be in but should've been in!

Man, Tim Curry truly has a talent. A lot of people remember him as the guy, who voices the dark and evil villains in children show (like Taurus Bulba from Darkwing Duck), but he can also plays a funny characters like this Concierge.

Ahh, Tim Curry. Always gets (and nails!) the sleazy roles. Spanish inquisitor (The Three Musketeers), dirty college professor (Scary Movie 2), premier of the Soviet Union (Red Alert 3)... He has the aura, the looks and the voice.

Tim Curry is just as iconic in Home Alone 2 as the rest of the main cast ! Wish they made a 3rd version with the same cast, budget and released around Christmas. The ones after this, just didn’t cut it !

"Dont count your tips in public!" Even for his acting, if I hear someone delivering a quote like that in a serious tone while giving me a death stare, I would take him seriously and obeyed his instructions, regardless of profession. That's how magnificent perfomance Tim Curry performed here in this film.

This scene always amuses me and in those kinds of movies from the 80's or 90's. 3:05 Regardless of the fact that it is not very intelligent to have that position when cornering a child, I forgive him for the elegant and striking outfit he was wearing

Yeah. He actually tripped himself when the scene was being filmed. Since the scene was known to be funny, they decided to keep it in the movie.
