The important thing about them, is to have a interior center post. Otherwise they tend to shift from freezes ever so slightly and start swaying or sagging. If you have an area that freezes. This is what I’ve learned from my experiences. I enjoy your channel. Thanks.. 👍🏻👍🏻

We are using the oil pipe a lot here in Missouri because we have so much rock in the ground....limestone, granite, tiff. Some places we can’t dig deep enough to put in corner post or corrals. We drive the post in the ground with a post driver on a skid steer. Drives the metal post through the rock. Then weld the sucker rod horizontally. Last forever. Thanks for sharing your videos. God bless.

Thanks again for the video and another good idea to use what is around us to get a job done. I used a old back tire off a tractor for a lose mineral feeder. Thanks to you on one of you older video. As always God Bless

I see these on fence corners on lower ground here in MN. When the frost heaves they stay stable, unlike normal posts. Great channel, keep up the good work.

Usually use a hog panel bent around. Also used in rocky ground. My parents farm the fences are built that way.

Leonardo da Vinci for example designed a type of Gabion called a Corbeille Leonard for the foundations of the San Marco Castle in Milan. Although invented more than one century ago, Gabions are being rediscovered today for many infrastructure and architectural projects.Feb 17, 2017

I'm not a geologist. Not even a rancher. Only thing I know about cows is they are not too bright. They taste pretty good on the barby. And I watch out for the bulls when I am huntin wild hogs in Texas. ;) I enjoy watching all of your videos. But this one certainly caught my eye. Those Gabion rock posts are beautiful. With a little effort, and a lot of work, probably something even you and I could figure out how to make! ;) Thanks for sharing! :)

Oil and gas well pipe makes great fences, easy to build and they pretty much last 2 lifetimes.

How is this style "post" stable if it isnt ran into the ground or attached to a solid base be it a post or concrete?? It looks like one could literally push them over id the solid rod wasnt welded to the in ground steel posts..Ive always thought they were simply asthetical...

We don't see stonework on fences that often in the South, but I'd sure like to give her a go. "Algorithms" is the word I think you were looking for.

Are the rocks below ground level as well or are they just sat on the surface?

Usually they’re just on the surface.

Hi Luke, check out farmhandscompanion channel episode 21 where he builds a rock fence post just like the one you showed on your video, but he used wood instead of steel pipe to build the fence cross members, pretty cool how he did it. Take care.

Why the need for Bible verses in a video showing rock gabions for fencing? That one photo of a huge gabion holding a gate with a steer behind it was lifted from FARM SHOW magazine. You didn't tell us anything about how to build these things either.

It was simply an idea not a how to. The Bible is the most famous book in the world and has been since its first printing. It is the number one selling book in the world. I try to quote it anytime I ever have the chance to. I also quote a lot of scholars along the way as well. It’s interesting no one has ever offended if I quote a scholar, but you always have that one person that’s offended by someone’s spiritual beliefs, and quoting the Bible. But yet other people can quote stuff like men, being women, etc. and I’m not supposed to be offended about that. I just assume if I talk to a Mormon, I may hear something about Mormons if you talk to a Muslim, you may hear something about Muslims, and if you talk to a Christian, you’re probably gonna notice he’s a Christian. That’s called diversity in America and we shouldn’t be offended about it. Hope you the very best . Luke
