What a charm of music, where this whole phase of Fauré’s inimitable romanticism shines through. The compositions of this musical genius must be listened to with extra attention to recognize the divinity of harmony they represent. The connection the various phases of the themes are made in such a subtle way that it requires a complete integration of those who listen to them. The cellist and pianist are superb. Viva the admirable and incomparable music of Fauré.Thanks for this extraordinary recording.

He may have lived here on earth but his mind was in heaven. This music is evidence of that

Among other minor npieces, we can find the elegy which dates frim his first period but is highly inspired and noble, in a style which has no more any link with romantism. This 'youth' piece shall last for long. The two cello sonatas were written a few years before his death. They are sublime in concentration and harmonic laguage. Except Debussy and far away Vierrne, this is what we have as top level mesterworks in the French cello/piano sonata literature. Ophélie Gaillard is indeed great in this repertoire
