Bravo! Splendid performance of my favourite Requiem. For me the tempo of the In Paradisum was a little too spirited but overall, excellent!

Very well and beautifully played and sung. For me, your tempi and transparency took this composition to a (much) higher lever.!!

A Regente Grete Pedersen merece nota 10 ! ADOREI!!!!

Do I hear a French pronunciation? 😊
@antoniaezac4653
@antoniaezac4653 Жыл бұрын
Indeed, it is the French pronunciation! But, for a French person like myself, it sounds very strange to hear Fauré's Requiem sung using a pronunciation which is largely associated with much earlier works-notably French vocal works of the 17th-18th century. At the end of the 19th century, when Fauré composed his requiem, this French pronunciation was still used; but that's also when the Catholic Church started harmonising the different pronunciations of Latin to merge them into the so-called Italian one. So, while it's philologically correct to sing Fauré with this peculiar French pronunciation (and even then, it should be more properly called a "Parisian" way to pronounce Latin, since there were many variations across France...), I'm not sure it does a service to the music. Philippe Herreweghe created a bit of a stir back in 2001, when he performed the Requiem using that "French" pronunciation; he explained that, to him, it brought out a clearer, more angelic, aesthetic better in tune with Fauré's. But again, to me at least, it makes it sound like the works or Rameau... That being said, this version is very beautiful 🙂

The work itself I love. In terms of performance I sometimes hear the orchestra overpower a bit the chorus.

Welche Orchesterfassung ist das? Warum sind zwei Sopranisten von ihrer Stimme separiert? Und warum singt das erste Requiem ein Tenor Solist?

It's because they are singing authentic French pronunciation of the latin text. The Italianate pronunciation of latin introduced worldwide by Pope Pius X in 1903 postdates the composition of this work.

Hello! I'm one of the singers in the choir. We were performing this using French Latin pronunciation which was authentic at the time of the composition.
