To people complaining about her moving, I'm pretty sure that's a normal thing to do. Whenever I play trombone, I move according to how my music is written and sounds. I'm just in the moment.

why complaining about the moving in the first place ? i just don't get it... as long as the interpretation is fine, why bother?

WOW- this is the 1st time I've heard this arrangement for this incredible Faure piece. I wish I knew the proper terminology, but I don't- but the way that the flute and harp trade back & forth at certain points is just brilliant. I know this piece very well, and this is a new (to me, anyway), faithful yet cool way of playing it. VERY nice!👍👍

There was, many many years ago a radio program that came on at midnight on our local classical music FM station WFMR, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the mid 1960s. I was just a young boy. I remember hearing this, the theme music for that late-night classical music program which was called "The Midnight Hour". On WFMR. In Milwaukee. So long ago.
@mikewellwood14122 жыл бұрын
By coincidence, it also used to be the theme music for a classical music programme on BBC which ran for many years, introduced by Jack Brymer, who was a popular and talented clarinetist and prolific broadcaster. He must have told us what the music was called, probably many times, but of course I had forgotten. I'd been looking for it on KZbin on and off for a few days, and by lucky chance, came across it tonight, and have been enjoying the various versions of it on YT. I'd wondered if the version I used to hear actually featured Jack on clarinet, but perhaps not; it may well have been a version featuring flute, which sounds gorgeous in this piece. If you don't know it, check out Fauré's Pavane Op. 50 which for some reason I always associate with this piece (and often confuse them in my memory, tbh).

These two marvelously-talented, gorgeous women should be classical Rock Stars. (Incidentally, this is one of my ten favorite pieces of Music, of all time.) Addendum: Listen to Faure's chord changes... They not only anticipate French Impressionism... They anticipate Jazz. (The hair on my arms will be raised for days.) Addenda, 3 years later: This piece was originally written, I believe, for solo cello and piano, but is much better known for its full orchestration; this arrangement, for flute and harp, is absolutely breathtaking. This piece, extracted from "Peleas et Melisande," does exactly what the best Art, in any medium does: It ennobles one with the sensual enjoyment it engenders, even as it makes one examine the Big Questions, most especially, one's place in the Scheme of Things.

i have a open holed flute with the plugs out, it’s typically a more stylistic preference for musicians. when they feel the music they move, i do too. i don’t even notice im moving around!

@@wh0sashlyn I will move very slightly at times to help myself keep good tempo, but she is moving way too much. She's all over the place. She plays beautifully, but as James Galway says, it's about the breathing, not the ballet. Still, you can't argue she's getting it done. She's better than me, so who am I to tell her how to play?

You seem to have lost control of your faculties. When you come round and remember what you were trying to say, do let us know, won't you? ( but only if you aren't a permanent moron - in that case keep your insane ravings to yourself...) p.s. it's not called a " _a classical music song!_ " . It's called a piece of (classical) music. Songs are lyrics (words) set to music so they can be sung.
